No, not that the issues are entirely "In our minds", but that a good part of what is wrong with us right now is. Republicans and Democrats are constantly outdoing themselves trying to scare people into fearing what the opposition is doing, or is going to do. The right wing scores points by convincing people to be afraid of terrorists, immigrants, and God. The left wing scores by convincing us to be terrified of loss of privacy, right-wing extremists getting us into wars, and economic chaos. Our entire political system is based on fear. I actually was happy when Obama decided to run on hope, until I realized that he wasn't offering anything substantial to back up his promise.

It's foolish to simply dismiss our problems as psychological. It's equally foolish to deny that the catastrophism coming from both parties isn't effecting the public in a negative way.

That over the years when they have a physical problem, only to find out it is a real physical problem later on, like PMS.

Just think about it in the right way - it will go away and it will be juuuuust fine. (pat, pat on the head)

Yeah, riiiight. As people suffer from problems that are dismissed because it's not problems the folks that are dismissing them have.

first portrayed the Repugs as the daddies and the Dems as the mommies (the little ladies) who must be looked after for their own good? It's all just in our heads. Let the big Repugs take care of it.
