BBC News cites an al-Jazeera report that Sami al-Hajj, an al-Jazeera cameraman, has been released from Guantanamo. No explanation has yet been given for the decision to release Hajj after more than six years of captivity. More here.

    The Al Jazeera report has this info:

    Al-Hajj, who arrived at the airport in the capital Khartoum early on Friday from more than six years in captivity, was carried off the aircraft in a stretcher.

    He appeared too weak to talk and was immediately taken to hospital where his wife and son were on their way to meet him.

    Sudan's justice minister told Al Jazeera that al-Hajj was a free man and would not be arrested.

    What have we done to this man?

    And, will we ever be forgiven?

    I'm glad he's been released, but so ashamed that we had any part in his imprisonment.

    the days when stories like this were about other countries. We will be answering for and trying to explain things like this for generations to come. You don't have the right to call yourself the "Greatest Nation On Earth" when you do things like this. Most powerful yes, greatest, not so much.

    They should have had immediate council when imprisoned. There are the guilty but there have been a lot of wrongly imprisoned been in the wrong place at the wrong time types. And GW sleeps just fine.

    ain't that always the way.

    Probably because the Ministry of Love totally broke this human being, so they sent him home to die or be a human vegetable.  Their work is done, mission accomplished.
