Jack Nicholson Makes a Video for Hillary

Jack Nicolson makes a video for Hillary Clinton. It's great -- as much for the Nicholson movie clips as the message.

(Via MisforMich at Daily Kos, hat tip to Magster in TL comments at the thread below .)

Update: The video was made by Nicholson and Rob Reiner, without the Clinton campaign's endorsement. "They decided to do this as something on their own to assist her campaign."

Brand new YouTube Video: Barack Praised Hillary.

Take a look. It uses a very pro-Hillary quote
Barack made in a New Yorker interview in November, 2006 - before he decided to run for President.

BTW: the Jack Nicholson video is genius: funny, sexy, moving, and patriotic.

how is Hillary more experienced than Obama? Other than 8 years in the white house as a first lady, who had nothing to do with the presidency, and being a 2 term senator versus Obama's 1 term, how is she more experienced in national security.
This argument of hers about having more experience is so idiotic. Why should I trust her when it comes to national security over Obama.
I just cannot, for the life of me, see this exprerience that she claims she has.

The only experience, that I'll give her credit for, is her experience in dealing with right wing attacks,.

This is why she is losing in the polls. She is losing the experience argument.

day to day experience in the white house, and her eight years in the senate, i'd say she, with gore, is the most experienced democrat to run for president since lbj. presumably, she really does know how to govern from day one. most new presidents take their first two years learning. carter and bill clinton were tripped because of this lack of exp. obama, should he win, will be too.

she, with gore, is the most experienced democrat to run for president since lbj.

    You can't really be serious.

McGovern - 4 years in the House and 10 in the Senate when he ran in 1972.
Dukakis - 8 years in the Mass legislature and 12 as governor
Mondale - 2 Terms as Attorney General of Minnesota, 12 years in the U.S. Senate, 4 years as VP. (And what a great general election campaign he ran)

Setting aside the absurdity of the statement, as you will see, since LBJ the really experienced guys have gotten pasted in the general election.

Of course Hillary will do great in the general, its not like stuff like this is going to be popping up.

    This off topic, I think, but (5.00 / 3) (#18)
by echinopsia on Sat Mar 01, 2008 at 04:31:47 PM EST
she does have more experience. One term more in the Senate is more experience. Especially when Obama went back on his vow to serve an entire term before running for another office. Especially when she's been on the Armed Services Committee and is the only Senator serving on U.S. Joint Forces Command's (JFCOM) Transformation Advisory Group (TAG) and she actually attended meetings and did work on legislation.

Eight years as first lady counts because she visited 82 foreign countries, and contrary to what her opponent would like you to believe, she did more than have tea with foreign officials' wives. Some of the highlights of her foreign poslicy experience are listed here.

    As for national security:

And Clinton had failed to mention what may be her most important qualification for the job, a knowledge of national-security issues unmatched in the Democratic field. Yes, several other Dems--Biden, Chris Dodd, Bill Richardson--can match her on foreign policy, but Clinton's years on the Armed Services Committee have been well spent. I once asked a well-known general if there were any Democrats running for President who understood the way military leaders think, and he said, "You mean, aside from Hillary?"

    There's lots more

    experience (5.00 / 4) (#20)
by Kensdad on Sat Mar 01, 2008 at 04:42:57 PM EST
without going through her whole resume that includes long experience as a democratic activist working on behalf of women, children, the poor and disenfranchised, or work outside of gov't (and don't give me the walmart b.s. unless you want to recognize what she did to promote women's rights in that organization and what she did to get walmart to improve their environmental footprint)... she worked on multiple policy issues as AR first lady (education, healthcare, etc)... SHE WAS PRESIDENT CLINTON'S CLOSEST CONFIDANTE AND MOST INFLUENTIAL ADVISOR FOR 8 YEARS (that's real experience, is it not? it gives her arguably the best insight to the job of president than any candidate... and please don't compare it to Laura Bush or other first ladies, since we all know that Hillary broke the mold for first ladies, like it or not.) She has been a U.S. senator for 7 yrs... this, is experience... real experience. if you want to diminish it, go ahead, but 35 yrs of passionately working for democratic issues and advocating on behalf of human rights and civil rights of the underprivileged and the discriminated people of our country (and the world) is not something to make light of...

she also has national security and foreign policy experience from her years on the senate armed services committee and in the WH.  check out joe wilson's piece at HuffPo if you want to hear about Hillary's foreign policy experience in Africa, or John Hume who wrote about how Hillary "played a positive role for over a decade in helping to bring peace in Northern Ireland."  How about the stand that she took in China, "human rights are women's rights and women's rights are human rights" and the intense pressure that she faced and pushed back on behind the scenes to make the Chinese understand that her resolve would not end and that they had to make changes.  Hillary has real foreign policy experience with regard to Kosovo. She played a key role in getting President Clinton to recognize that the u.s. had to intervene to stop ethnic cleansing. her role was pivotal in the words of bill clinton, madeleine albright, wes clark, and richard holbrooke.  You can also find numerous articles by both israelis and palestinians that praise Hillary's efforts regarding Israel-Palestine issues.

i could go on and on, the woman has 35 years of experience.  joshua lev at CNN today did a "fact check" in response to an email questioning the relevance of Hillary's 35 yrs of experience and came back with:  "she's got it, and she can claim it" while citing a lot of work he did at factcheck.org.

sorry for the lengthy post, but i just get so tired of people questioning Hillary's experience.  If you want to vote for Obama, then go ahead, just don't say that her argument regarding experience is "idiotic."

also, if you'd like to make your fellow democrat feel better about voting for Obama in november, then i'd like to hear why his experience is so relevant to the job of president...

The internet is the greatest resource for researching most anything, but people spew their ignorance without bothering to investigate.  It takes seconds using Google.  Type "accomplishments Hillary Clinton" and afterwards "accomplishments Obama"

That is all I did to understand how HRC has worked her lifetime to improve the life of Americans, and particularly children.  Everything Obama has done, HRC has done ten times.

This was very effective.  I love Jack Nicholson and think this might actually help Hillary.  I voted for Obama already, but if I were voting now -- and I'm somewhat embarrassed to admit this -- this video would probably prod me to take another look.

And this, notwithstanding the picture posted last year on Vatosplace as the fourth reason to not vote for Hillary Clinton.  The point was that when Clinton smiles enthusiastically she looks like Jack Nicholson from the 1st batman movie.  I don't think so.  And if that's the best they can do...

In any event, I'd be happy with either one (Clinton or Obama that is).  And was VERY glad to see Jeralyn post earlier that she will support whomever is our Democratic nominee.

I don't think Bill Clinton thought up of all the things he accomplished during his administration on his own and Hilary was just being a housewife.  I got to think they acted as a partnership during his presidency and her input was probably used in many of his decisions and requested legislation.   So she had to learn a lot on what it takes to be a president by being very much involved in his policies and accomplishment.  The other plus factor is if she is elected  she will have  Bill as her advisory who already knows all the ropes on what it takes to be a good president and that experience is priceless.

    ...was Nicholson drinking?

I find it amusing that some of Senator Clinton's advocates have attacked an admittedly idiotic "Yes we can" video and shamelessly promote the likes of...this...as the alternative.  The parade of Nicholson's villainous characters is, indeed, inspirational.  I just don't think the message translated the way Jeralyn anticipated.

The video opens with the Joker asking who do you trust and a psychopath telling a ghost that things could be a whole lot better...before he goes on to attempt to murder his wife and child.  To say nothing of a closing that would almost certainly be condemned as sexist if presented by an Obama supporter.  With endorsements like this, who needs attack ads?
