Late Night: A Medley

A late night opera with themes from today, mostly sparked by reader comments:

Act 1: Poison, Give Me Something to Believe In

Acts 2, 3, 4 and the curtain call below the fold.

Act 2: Spinning Wheel (Blood Sweat & Tears) -- I chose the version by an American Idol contestant. Then there's the graphic version.

What goes up must come down
Spinnin' wheel got to go 'round
Talkin' 'bout your troubles it's a cryin' sin
Ride a painted pony let the spinnin' wheel spin

Act 3, the Beatles and "Chains." Written by Geoff Goffin & Carole King, here's the original version by the Cookies, 1962, which included Little Eva (Locomotion) on backup.

Act IV: Green Day and the Boulevard of Broken Dreams

Curtain Call: Max Frost and the Troopers, Nothing Can Change the Shape of Things to Come (From the 1968 movie Wild in the Streets)

    that Spinning Wheel would get played tonight. And it was, by AI's Bo Bice even. Rock on. Digging AI tonight. Couple, two or three, got serious chops.

    Despite our 180 degree political differences, music does provide a true commonality.

    Danny Glover's son is in the band, Living Colours, the song is from 1988.  Great Jimmy Hendrix like rock.

    Wild in the Streets seems appropriate. And maybe Vanishing Point for the other campaign (I liked Kowalski a lot better than Max Frost)

    I appreciate the energy that went into choosing these. Thanks, Jeralyn.

    I am in an odd position. Asked to recommend an endorsement to MoveOn, I recommended Obama based on what seemed to me at the time rather superficial considerations. (He lead McCain in polls) But I ended up voting for Hillary in NYC because of equally contingent reasons and I have remained torn. (Why I'm here - it's the only place that I can find that seems to understand "torn" anymore).

    I sincerely hope that this time, we won't tear ourselves apart. That's all.
