Former President Bush Endorses McCain

I just love the sound of that phrase, "former President Bush." But, I'm referring here to former President George Herbert Walker Bush (Bush I) who has endorsed John McCain for President.

Here's the video.

What did anyone expect, that he would endorse Hillary Clinton or Barack Obama? This is news that's not news in my opinion. Just another predictable endorsement.

Bush Sr. is not looked upon that greatly by those right wingers currently pissed with McCain.

    Limbaugh on the other hand...

Yawn I don't pay much attention to endorsements, regardless of party affiliation.

I, for one, am having much more fun (none / 0) (#4)

watching McCain intone the same "Read My Lips, No New Taxes" schtick that cost Bush 41 his last straight job, when the tax-cuttin' conservatives lost all patience with him over, um, actually accepting and signing a non-decrease of taxes legislated by the Congress (without issuing a signing statement, even!), and then didn't bother to show up for the 1992 election in the numbers Bush 41 needed.

Now, I gotta wonder whether the 71 year old John McCain has advisers marginally aware of the bad electoral history that promise has....

Of course, and on the other hand, McCain did manage to refuse to sign the no-new taxes pledge put forward by the same anti-tax crusader group, and just last fall, too....  So he's on both sides of that issue, too.

    Amazing flexibility, that.

too closely, because I thought that Bush already had, then I saw that it was actually Bush, Sr...which led me to believe that as much as Sr acts in concert with Jr that it had already happened.

I dunno--the last ten or twelve folks who support Bush, Jr are hard-core conservatives who basically follow him on everything.  If he can persuade them that Sadaam planned 9-11 and this war was justified, I think persuading them that McCain is not the anti-christ is certainly in his power.

So: not big news to the world in general, but probably good news for McCain vis-a-vis the nuttier nutball element of the repub party.

I'm not suprised. I've said before that its only a matter of time before republicans flock agianst McCain. No way they are gonna let Obama or Hillary win.
