Warmth in the Frozen North: A Good Omen?

Update:

The same weather pattern was responsible for unusually balmy conditions for voters throughout the Midwest, from Detroit and Minneapolis to Des Moines and St. Louis. Some voters said the favorable weather made the crowds friendlier and the long waits more bearable.

original post:

In Madison, Wisconsin, it is an unseasonably summery day, with sunny skies and a predicted high temperature of 72. Whether this is a happy artifact of global warming or divine intervention, the weather will make it easy to stand in line at the polls if that's what it takes to cast an Obama vote.

It was 74 in Minneapolis yesterday.  Today it is going to be 67.

We're shooting for 80% turnout here.

Today in Boston.  I have a good feeling about today.  I couldn't sleep last night I was so nervous/excited.  No early voting here, but I woke up early to vote.

I have a good feeling about youth turnout today too.  I don't know a single person who isn't voting - although we are all feeling a bit "not that young" lately, and I have no idea what the college kids are doing.

Watching John Stewart last night, at the end he turned to the screen and said to the youth "don't blow this for us".  I don't think we will this time.

I know you're pessimistic, but I gotta think a big win will be a mandate for drastic change.  Even if we don't entirely know what that change is, when you're at the bottom, there's no where to go but up.  I am feeling more optimistic today about Obama than I have in a while - for no other reason than I have to for sanity's sake.

can't ignore what my eyes see and ears hear, so I'm not confident about any lasting, meaningful changes.

I'm a little weird, and a little crazy...but I like to think I'm not stupid.  Obviously with Obama we have a shot at some good being done, with McCain we have no shot.  Slim is always better than none.

My state is locked up for Obama, so I'll pull my lever for Nader after work, accept defeat that instant, and start rooting for Obama to take it home.

and every once in awhile I get goosebumps that this is gonna happen. Then I look at the razor thin polls in the battleground states and i feel sick. So I'm going to go out and enjoy this beautiful day and try to stay positive. I hope it's a good omen. Those 2 small towns that went for Obama, that's a good omen too, I guess.

But, "some people" here say the reason people don't show up at this or that is because the weather is so nice, people have so many choices, etc.  Maybe here registered voters will say:  hey, its raining.  May as well go vote.

I was close, it was one of those bells and whistles.

Wonder if I can get firefox to auto-deny ALL cookies or if that will cause websites not to load?  Firefox is set to ask permission for every cookie.  It keeps me away from a lot of cookie-riddled websites.  If I have to click [Deny] a dozen times before the screen clears even for a moment...sayanora.
