Just heard him say it on ESPN in an interview at halftime of Monday Night football. He is 100% correct. Course that means the SEC would win the national championship every year. That's change we can believe in.

Oh BTW, how about them Gators?

    Gators were awesome BTD. They will beat the crap out of Alabama and play Texas or Penn St and win that one too. Three in a row for the SEC.

    Now, back to my depression. Watch a tape of Fulmer's press conference BTD. Heartbreaking. Players cried and are mad. Really mad.

    They have one loss and won't be playing for the National Championship.

    College students should go to college to learn, not to train for the NFL.  College football drains enormous amounts of money from public universities even as tax revenue collapses.  Instead of having a playoff, how about doing away with athletic scholarships; no other country expects its universities to provide entertainment instead of an education.

    As for Florida, can you spell Mississippi State?  Failing to convert extra points when the game is on the line is hardly the mark of a championship team.

    The majority of college football programs return a profit.  That's why it's called a revenue sport.

    Every reputable study of college athletics shows that football is, with rare exceptions, a money loser.  The University of Michigan lost money every year except the one year after it won a national championship; other state schools fare no better, and rely on the same kind of accounting as Hollywood to conceal the true costs of athletic programs.  Capital costs don't get charged to the athletic department; tutoring costs don't get charged to the athletic department; the list goes on and on.

    If you're genuinely curious about the costs of college athletics, pick up a copy of The Game of Life: College Sports and Educational Values by James Shulman and William Bowen (Princeton University Press or for a polemical analysis, Beer and Circus: How Big-Time College Sports Has Crippled Undergraduate Education by Murray Sperber.

    lose this weekend at Iowa and Texas Tech will not beat Oklahoma in Norman. Bama will lose to the gators in the SEC championship game and Texas and Florida will meet in the NC game.

    I agree with Obama on most issues but not a college playoff. WE do not need college ball to become even more like the the NFL. Things work out in the end,usually. And the debates keep the hot stove league working.

    I was the only one to think the Hawks will beat PSU. Shonn Green will be difficult to stop and will record his 10th straight game of gaining 100+ yards IMHO.

    About 4,500 people came out to see Democratic vice presidential nominee Sen. Joe Biden Sunday afternoon on the Reitz Union North Lawn at the University of Florida.

    Throughout Biden's speech, about 25 students supporting McCain waved Republican campaign signs.

    Not all Republicans were there to protest.

    "I wanted to see the next vice president of the United States," said "Gators for McCain" chairman Josh Simmons who said he voted for Obama.

    Simmons said he submitted his resignation Sunday night and will no longer be chairman for the group.

    "I expect them to be incredibly pissed off," he said.

    at tutoring.  The kids are Latino, born in the U.S. to parents who probably were born in Mexico and may or may not be eligible to vote or even take the trouble to vote.  The kids wanted to talk about Proposition 8 (amend the CA Constitution to define marriage as between one man and one woman).  Kids were strongly in favor of "no" on Prop 8.  I asked one older boy what his parents would say if he told them we were discussing Prop 8 at tutoring.  He sd. he has a gay uncle and they would be voting against Prop 8.
