Ohio Breaking To Obama

Joining the Columbus Dispatch poll (Obama by 7), the ABC/WaPo Ohio poll has Obama up 6, 51-45.

Fun fact:

No Republican has ever been elected president without winning Ohio, and the state's 20 electoral votes are of paramount importance to McCain.

It is no small thing for the United States of America to be in a position to have to save herself with a black guy at the helm.  It is a history I would have liked to enjoy earlier than this but this is when we get to have it so lets write this thing.

...to the horrible failure of Bush and the "Republican Revolution": We nominated (from their perspective) an inexperienced black guy and a gaffe-prone windbag, after one of the fiercest primary battles in history. They nominated a popular war hero and a base-inspiring, attractive and telegenic woman. They ran the nastiest, most negative campaign probably in the whole history of television. And we're still going to win, in a freakin' landslide.

That's how bad Bush and the Republicans were these past 8 years.

after the Ohio debacle in 2004. Thankfully, Ken Blackwell is not running the voting process this year. Presumably, we won't have eight hour waits for poor and black people to vote.

I'm glad to see it. I have been concerned about Ohio and the southern Oh votes.

that this result comes with McCain matching Bush's 2004 performance in Southern Ohio.

He is getting swamped int the rest of the state.

    that will hold up.

First, add CNN/Time, which shows Obama by 3.

Second, consider this new poll of PA's 4th district. It's Pittsburgh's Northern suburbs, and a lot like Ohio. Obama wins a little more than 40% of the white vote there.

I still think Obama's gonna win PA because he'll swamp the Southeast, but Ohio just isn't the same. . .

I hopeit holds up but worry about other states.. (none / 0) (#8)

I'm in Columbus, Ohio in a neighborhood that thinks it's more upscale than it is.

There's one street that has a lot of McCain signs but I've seem more Obama signs than Gore or Kerry signs in the past two elections, and that includes a couple of houses that have sold that now don't have Dem signs anymore, so I think that's progress.

There is hope with a Dem administration in place here that we can pull it off for Obama.

I worry about other states, any that have Repub administrations no matter if Obama is ahead, they are going to pull dirty tricks there and we could be surprised. They have altered vote totals in the past; they are trying to get registered, legitimate voters eliminated from the rolls and have control over how many voting machines are placed in each precinct....I think this is very dangerous.

Ken Blackwell, former Ohio Sec of State, has a piece in the NY Post (I can't do links for some reason) about voter fraud (yes it's a bogus concern but that doesn't matter if people buy it), and I think they want to put the attention there so it doesn't go to protecting the vote in Repub administered states,  especially if Obama is ahead.

Also, they want to discredit this concern about their dirty tricks as a "conspiracy theory," but we know it's not.

Obama up 53-39 whereas Gore lost by 5 and Kerry lost by 1.  The Dem House challenger doing well too.
