John McCain: Rock Star?

Meghan McCain was in Denver yesterday to pitch her new book about her father and her. Dad John arrives today where he will campaign with former Denver Quarterback John Elway. From her interview with local 7 News,

John McCain's daughter calls campaigning with him "like being on tour with a band except we're trying to save the world."

Katie Couric asked John McCain when was the last time he cried.

John McCain: I cry regularly.
Couric: You do?
McCain: Aw, yeah. You know, I'm very sentimental.

    John McCain: "I cry regularly."

As in each morning when he wakes up and sees the new polling numbers.

On the flipside, I wake up and peek at the polls each morning so as to start the day with a smile.

    And the relevance of Couric's question is...? (5.00 / 2) (#2)

I really cannot take this woman seriously as a journalist. For that matter, I wish 60 Minutes would get rid of her. She turns everything into insipid fluff or mean-spirited "gotcha" moments. Just because she exposed Palin's non-literary habits shouldn't prevent us from hoping she finds another line of work very soon.

    I don't understand this post. (5.00 / 1) (#3)

John McCain is a right-winger and, as BTD has written repeatedly, his maverick credentials are not genuine when his record is examined.  This union attorney is particularly cognizant of Senator McCain's terrible record on labor issues and looks forward to changes that will be made by Senator Obama on the labor front, beginning with the enactment of the Employee Free Choice Act.

I take this election seriously, just as I did when I came to this website because it was one of the few progressive websites that seemed to understand the need for Party unity, and because it was a haven from the outright hatred of Senator Clinton and her loyal supporters like me by other forums sponsored by the creative class.

I came around and have supported Senator Obama as I would support any Democrat against John McCain. I have never given more money to any other Democratic candidate than I have given to Senator Obama.  But I don't hate John McCain or Senator Palin, I don't believe they are racists, etc., but I do believe from the bottom of my kishkas that their brand of politics is not right for this country, now or ever before.  Respectfully, I would leave the pettiness, the childish mocking of the GOP candidate and his vice presidential choice, to places like Talking Points Memo.  Maybe it's because I have always been drawn to underdogs, but I really have a problem with politics by ridicule.

Speaking for me only, because maybe I'm missing the point of this post.

    Well said. (none / 0) (#6)

...John Elway is the GOP's last great hope in Colorado.  Bad enough that he stood shoulder to shoulder with W, but now McLame too?  That's some fine endorsing there, Number 7.

And they want him to run for Governor?  Good luck with that!  Maybe ole' John should stick to steaks and cars.

Peyton supported Bush, though not in public. I just saw he maxed out to him. I haven't checked this year because I don't want to know!

I'm so disappointed in Mr. Elway.
