    predicts that:

    [

W]e're in for a Keynesian renaissance. The Fed has little room to stimulate the economy, so Democrats will use government outlays to boost consumption.

    [. . .]

[T]here will be tax cuts. On Monday, Obama promised new tax subsidies to small business, which could cost tens of billions. That's on top of his promise to cut taxes for 95 percent of American households. His tax plans aren't as irresponsible as John McCain's, but the Tax Policy Center still says they would reduce revenues by $2.8 trillion over the next decade.

Finally, there will be a health care plan. In 1960, health care consumed 5 percent of G.D.P. By 2025, it will consume 25 percent. In the face of these rising costs, Obama will spend billions more to widen coverage. Obama's plan has many virtues, but the cost-saving measures are chimerical.

Mostly it's policy porn for liberals. But then he says:

What we're going to see, in short, is the Gingrich revolution in reverse and on steroids. There will be a big increase in spending and deficits. In normal times, moderates could have restrained the zeal on the left. In an economic crisis, not a chance. The over-reach is coming. The backlash is next.

Well, maybe. And I think that's wishful thinking on his part. But if we get this stuff passed--especially healthcare--it's never going away.

Try to be a Republican running to cut health benefits.

Frankly, I hope Brooks is right.

That would be hard to believe.

if we get health care, it will be the new Social Security.  Obama's plan isn't as good as Hillary's but its a good first step.  The lack of a mandate for adults lowers the cost savings in his plan and I would rather have health care caps on income levels rather than Obama's sliding scale of income.  Still, Obama's plan does offer a public option for health care that doesn't discriminate and it prohibits insurance companies from discriminating customers based on pre-existing conditions.

But I do like balanced budgets and I liked saying that Democrats were able to balance the budget back in the 90's.  But we do need to stabilize the economy, first, and universal health care would help do that.

Knew those suits would show up eventually. This is a race worth watching right to the end. The last three polls all give the lead to Franken. No polling has been done since the Neiman Marcus suit press conference which I think may have been Coleman's waterloo.

I hear that...had a huge crush on her back in the 80's when I was but a little horndog.

Nothing sexier than a good looking woman with a guitar.

I still have a soft spot in my heart for Susanna.  The stuff she put out with Matthew Sweet is killer.

And, for me, it is not only guitar, but bass or violin or drums or...

    You can watch it here.

has managed to get through his new economic plan speech.  I look forward to seeing a big takedown of it here tonight.

Also, this morning on TV I saw a "feel your pain" moment between Barack Obama and a college student.  She was talking about her college loans and getting progressively more emotional (she had some ginormous amount of debt I can no longer recall, and wasn't even through with school!).  Barack responded with "we're going to see if we can help you with that" and gave her a hug.  I was touched.
