Not So Funny, Bobby May

The McCain campaign relieved Bobby May of his position as McCain's Buchanan County, Virginia campaign chairman. The campaign found May's blatant racism a bit embarrassing.

May wrote in [a newspaper] column, "The (clarified) platform of Barack Hussein Obama," that if the Democratic senator were elected he would hire rapper Ludacris to paint the White House black and change the national anthem to the "Black National Anthem."

The scarry part about an Obama presidency (2.00 / 0) (#10)

For me, is that if it is not succesfull (which I don't think our country can afford right now- separate issue) his failure will speak towards all black people- and not just be his own and those around him.

I'm all for the Black National Anthem (none / 0) (#1)

Did you see the clip of the supporter at a McCain rally in Johnston PA? He had a stuffed monkey and had an Obama bumper sticker wrapped around its head.  Saw that he was on camera and put the bumper sticker in his pocket. Gave the bear to some kid sans the sticker.

The busted look on his face when he realized he was on camera was priceless.

Race is a factor no doubt, but the economy fortunately trumps race....

Where can I find that video? (none / 0) (#4)

That guy looks seriously creepy, doesn't he?  If you watched that clip just from the part after he's already taken the Obama sticker off of the stuffed monkey, he just looks like some pervy old man looking around for a kid to lure with a stuffed animal.

gave me the same impression?  I caught myself thinking that and reminded myself that creeps don't look a certain way, nor do racists.  His "skinhead" was occuring naturally.

I was more enjoying watching his mind work on how he was going to get out of the situation....

Does anyone think there's hope for the Republican party?  Particularly the religious zealots who seem to be the first to lie to get into office, the first to go into war, the ones who tend to be greedier...is there hope for Guliani's friend the Monsignor who covered up for priests who were sexual predators?

There is always "hope" for hate mongers and extremists. The evil that they embody has been with us always, and always will be. Indeed, everyone is advised to repeatedly check themselves to make sure it does not take root in their own hearts.

As long as they can keep trotting out their "family values" BS routine and enough people in this country are stupid enough to believe it and VOTE AGAINST THEIR OWN FREAKIN' BEST INTERESTS, then they'll do just fine.

ah, but serially folks! this is why, if obama does carry va, it'll be a close run thing. personally, i don't think he will, in spite of any poll showing him leading. southerners tend to be very nice, as they stab you in the back; northerners brutal, as they stick the shiv in you from the front.

one interesting note: i attended a party this evening, in va beach, an area that seemed pretty much (to me, anyway) a mccain haven, due to the huge military population. many of the people i talked to were underwhelmed by the mccain/palin ticket, a change from the last time i was down there, a month ago.

they weren't particularly enthusiastic about obama/biden either, seeing them more as the lesser of two evils. what was truly striking was the number of people who expressed a longing for sen. clinton on the dem. ticket. apparently, after watching mccain and obama for a month, clinton looks pretty good, by comparison.
