Do Women Not Use The Buddy System?

Sully is in full rampage Clinton Derangement Syndrome mode:
"I was laughing because you know in that debate, obviously Sen. Edwards and Sen. Obama were kind of in the buddy system on the stage. And I was thinking whoever's up against the Republican nominee in the election debates come the fall is not gonna have a buddy to fall back on. You know, you're all by yourself. When you're president, you're there all by yourself," - Senator Clinton on her two rivals for the nomination. Notice another subtle use of the gender card. We really are headed back to the 1990s.
(Emphasis supplied.) Say what? The buddy system is only used by males?
The buddy system is a procedure in which two people, the buddies, operate together as a single unit so that they are able to monitor and help each other. . . . The buddy system is used in: The US Army. Scuba diving, where it is called buddy diving. . . . Firefighting, where it is called the two-in, two-out principle.
So is Sully thinking of a world where women are not part of the army or go scuba diving or can be firefighters? And he wonders why people think he hates women.

    Really silly post by Sully (5.00 / 3) (#20)

She's the one who crafted the buddy system for getting out her voters in Iowa.

As to the buddy system itself, even pre-schoolers -- of both sexes -- use it.

My first recollection of it is from the Madeline books when I was about six -- ''in an old house in Paris that was covered with vines, lived 12 little girls in two straight lines. They left the house at half-past nine, the smallest one was Madeline'' In the pictures, each pair held hands  everywhere they went in their two straight lines, --the buddy system. That way no one got lost.

Of course, those were small French (none / 0) (#21)

Using the Buddy System to increase participation (none / 0) (#30)

was brilliant.  There are many activities I was going to go to until the last minute when I decided I would know no one there.

On the other hand, my reading of her interview suggests she was bashing the need for the buddy system -- that is, she was saying she doesn't need it herself.  Which is fine.  And I am glad she does not.

I do think though that her sentence could easily be interpreted to be that she was saying they had ganged up, piled on, just as she did before.

But more importantly, Madeleine DOES talk!  (Or at least she does in the videos and the movie.)

But I have two daughters and we all enjoyed the movie.  The videotapes based on the books were okay, and then, like so many other programs for kids these days, they got very preachy and moralistic and do this, do that, and blah blah blah.
