Dodd Drops Out

Chris Dodd drops out.

As some of you know, I was an early supporter of Senator Dodd because he was running a campaign on issues and leading on them NOW. Like Iraq. And restoring the Constitution. And on civil liberties and habeas corpus.

Senator Dodd should be proud of the campaign he ran. Unlike others, Senator Dodd's campaign actually made a difference in the discussion of these issues.

And that mattered. Thank you Senator Dodd for your leadership. You made a difference.

    In his email tonight, he said:

    The fight to restore the Constitution and stop retroactive immunity does not end with my Presidential campaign.  FISA will come back in a few weeks and my pledge to filibuster ANY bill that includes retroactive immunity remains operative.

    Wouldn't have expected any less from him. Shows he might be out of the presidential race, but he is still looking out for the people.

    I have a lot of respect for him. He'd be great as majority leader. I hope you all e-mail him, thank him for running and let him know he made a difference. He and his family sacrificed a lot for this run, and unlike Biden, who I think did it out of ego and the mistaken belief it was his due to his longevity in the Senate, Dodd seemed to me to be motivated by conviction.

    He always, and I mean always, thought about his constituents first, party line 2nd.  He even assisted me, personally, about an issue (no, not going to say what it was about) but he helped to solve the problem.

    The US Gov't would be well served and maintained if there were more politicians like Mr. Dodd. He is all Lieberman will never be.

    Senator & Mrs Dodd their dedicated staff and the many friends and colleagues from Connecticut  who came to Iowa to help with the campaign.

    Thanks for running a quality campaign about issues that matter.

    the the Democratic Party, that the candidates who stand for something don't get sufficient funding and have to drop out.

    Dodd's poor showing in the Presidential race this year is yet one more indication of the degree to which we live in an oligarchy, not a democracy.

    Surprising, really, with his savvy and all his experience.

    Might have done better with the voters if he'd kept that young wife and kids at home and not actually made a big public show out of moving them to Iowa for four months.  It's Iowa, for Gawdsakes...

    Why on earth does the age of his wife and kids have to with anything?  And if he hadn't had them there with him, he would have been targeted for not being a 'family man'.
