Here are the vote tallies by county. Here's what they show: Obama won the counties closest to Georgia and the deep south. He won no county below the top of the state.

    As someone who grew up in Florida, please allow me to provide a little translation of the results. You can't tell very much from knowing which counties a candidate won unless you know something about those counties.

    Obama won:
    Escambia - which includes the city of Pensacola
    Leon - which includes the state capital, Tallahassee and Florida State University
    Duval - which includes the city of Jacksonville
    Alachua - which includes Gainesville and the University of Florida.

    You forgot to mention that Leon also is home to Florida A&M which is the largest predominately African-American university in the state.

    Obama also won Gadsden, one of the few (maybe the only) counties with a majority African-American population.

    so I'm glad you liked it. I do think it tells a story, and I'm trying to figure out what it might mean for Feb. 5 but have reached no conclusions yet.

    is higher in those counties bordering Georgia, Alabama, etc.  If that's true, then you can't spin that as too good news for Obama.  Seems to me it might reinforce what I've seen written for Super Tuesday and his chances in GA, AL, etc and less than spectacular prospects in other states, particularly the West: CA, CO, AZ, NM, etc.

    You are correct--and very, very conservative in pockets, so we have to assume that some were a vote against or republicans crossing over.

    Trust me--we don't want republicans from that area.

    but fewer votes overall - see a nicely coded and linked map here

    Edwards's 11 counties were also in the Northern part of the state, on the GA border, though he also had some Gulf Coast and panhandle.  These are all basically small, rural counties, I think (his largest includes Panama City).

    Obama's 8 counties did also include some non-bordering counties, too, though they were relatively close.  He took the far west corner of the panhandle, the AL-bordering Escambia County, which includes Pensacola.  He also took the non-GA-contiguous Alachua Co., which includes Gainesville.

    have started. The Obama thing about there is no liberal or conservative America, vs. Hillary's staccato what she will do. Now I don't know about the common voter, but.....which one will I choose. I hope tonight people get over this electability fantasy. There is a democratic party and it stands for something.

    Turns out that, although Obama's coverage exceeded HRC's, Bill's exceeded any of the Republican primary candidates.  Don't miss the boxed quote.  Very funny.

    Escambia, Gadsden, Leon, Jefferson, Madison, Duval, Alachua

    Obama won and Edwards was second in:
    Hamilton

    Hillary won and Edwards was second in:
    Santa Rosa, Walton, Calhoun, Franklin, Wakulla, Dixie, Colubia, Gilchrist, Putnam, Levy, Hardee*, DeSoto*, Okeechobee*, Glades*

    Edwards won and Hillary was second in:
    Holmes, Washington, Gulf, Liberty, Taylor, Suwanee, Lafayette, Baker, Union, Bradford

    Edwards won and Obama was second in:
    Jackson

    All other counties went Hillary-Obama-Edwards

    With the exception of the four counties marked with "*", all the counties that did not go Hillary-Obama-Edwards were in the northern part of the state.

    Two netwoks said that Obama won or tied among voters that dcided in the last month or the last week, supposedly indicating that he might have a chance on Feb 5th and that SC and Ted Kennedy may havee given him a bump.

    Any validity to this?  I went to bed early.
