Late Night: Keith Richards Through the Years

This may be the best Keith Richards compilation I've seen yet. I can't believe he was ever that young. Watch the whole thing.

Who cares what one critic in Sweden thinks?

    When I was in HS (none / 0) (#4)

I went through a period, where I would not answer to my own name. I only responded to being called Keith. It was during my own "cool" period. It lasted many years short of Keith's. But, it did prompt me to learn to play guitar and get up on stage, where my time spent imitating the God of cool paid off as I stomped my left foot and hung my guitar low and away from my body while slashing at open chords in front of large Ampeg amps, believing Keith when he said "Rock n Rollers have strong ears."

Still, It hurts to see him trying to do it on the large stages over the last decade or more. It has long been past time that Mick stopped swinging his hips like a sixteen year old girl and Kieth stood wearing tight trousers rocking to large stadium PAs  and running off across the stage on cues by stage directors, with Charlie sitting behind glass. They should be sitting down and playing bluesy rock-n-roll in small clubs in front of large amps, with modest sized PAs, playing to audiences who know its only rock-n-roll but really do still like it, at least like it more than the marketers treating the boys like products instead of the r-n-r rebels they began as.

    That's where I'd rather see him too.... (none / 0) (#5)

but as the Stones say...when 60 thousand people wanna see ya, and you play a venue that only holds 1000, you're giving a lot of fans the shaft.

Then again....charging 150 bucks a ticket gives fans the shaft too...lol.

I wish he'd get the Xpensive Whinos going again, with Charlie on the skins...then we'd get our wish.  Who needs Mick anyway?

at Roy Wilkins Arena in St. Paul a few years back (gosh, I suppose it was many years ago now). Roy Wilkins is a small enough venue and I was in the front row. It really was a great show. And then, after words, I headed to First Avenue in Mpls and as the clock rolled around to 1:00 am, in strolls Keith without much of an entourage. Sits down at the bar, orders a drink and watches some local band close our a set. He is the coolest.
