Poor, Poor DLC . . .

This RNC ad is hilarious

Al From must be touched by the GOP's concern. Hat tip TPM.

On the day that Ronald Reagan died............ (5.00 / 1) (#1)
by Militarytracy on Fri Aug 03, 2007 at 03:27:08 PM EST
the DailyKos is horrid.  I like how Black Water became "security personnel", if you ask soldiers in uniform who Black Water is they will say mercenaries..........though hatred of them is beginning to cool because David Petraeus isn't having any mercenaries in Iraq with him and if you can't play well with others he has a jail cell for you and he has spelled that loud and clear.  At that time though Black Water was a bunch of Mercs doing horrible things without any kind of oversight.  They opened fire on streets full of civilians in Iraq to "clear" the street and make it safe for their passage as they drove along.  I still understand Markos' anger that day because I had it as well and Black Water security was placing my husband's life at risk by making being an American a hated and vile thing in Fallujah.  Other than that blurb that I may never find funny the rest of it is very enjoyable and the pandering was the most enjoyable as if Republicans don't pander.  Hell, Mitt almost isn't even Mormon these days.

and they are right about the mother sauces, and they are right that sometimes surrender is more fun and functional than fighting ;)  And they did invent the French Resistance.

...not trusting the Germans. They knew Hitler was up to something, so they did something about it. They built that wonder of military planning, the Maginot line. They weren't right about that part of it, I'm afraid (stupid parachutes)...

did the same thing in WW1. Maybe if they hadn't have hyped the line as making France invincible, or maybe if the guns could have swung around to battle a menace coming the other way!

    Ah well.

I think we were talking about those silly repubs.

Man, are they silly. And clueless.

Are they really serious? Just who is this aimed at? This is the righties talking to the righties, convincing themselves that their butt doesn't look big in those Bush-made Iraq pants.

    Really, really sad.

Is the implication that merely suggesting that "the French are right" about something, without any hint as to what the French position might be is some "loony left" idea that should have gone the way of other DFH inventions like flower power and communes.  I'm not sure anything else could capture how batcrap insane and reactionary the GOP is than the reflexive demonization of our oldest ally as a bunch of  moonbat islamofascist supporting crazies.

Then again, it makes a perverse sort of sense given the right's recent concern trolling for our erstwhile "ally" Pakistan.  You know, the country currently harboring al Qaeda.  I must have missed the memo where bin Laden relocated his base of operations to Marseilles.

    Ah, the use of '...' (none / 0) (#7)
by TomStewart on Fri Aug 03, 2007 at 03:35:37 PM EST
Alway telling that. Every time I see the use of those little dots, I wonder not only what was left out, but how the meaning has been changed from what the author had intended. "...the French were right...". Indeed. Right about what? And when.

And Blackwater forces aren't mercs? Since when?

Really, the repubs aren't even trying anymore. They need to throw out the McCarthy/Gingrinch playbook and try the truth for a change.

But then they'd have nothing to say...

    Is the DLC (none / 0) (#9)
by TomStewart on Fri Aug 03, 2007 at 03:45:21 PM EST
Still around? I thought they held meetings in their nice new headquarters and talked about the good ol' days when they were the Democratic party.

Well, now that they got the Republicans feeling sorry for them, their star can only rise again!

I feel a surge coming on!

(Mind out of the gutter folks, it's crowded with righties anyway.)

    Viva the 90's!!

well the DLC is already behind Hillary (none / 0) (#15)

so all she needs to do is work the dkers like play-doh. ain't too tough, IMO. they are positively horny for Hillary's approval.

seriously, people-do you think the ease with which Hillary has suckered them in approx. 2 weeks is going to translate into some vigorous Democratic primaries?

They will admire her for her teflon, as they did Reagan.

    Reagan? (none / 0) (#16)
by TomStewart on Fri Aug 03, 2007 at 06:17:12 PM EST
Ronnie didn't have teflon, he had a press delighted to look the other way.

Much the same as Bush did for the last six years.
