Hate Speech

Via Oliver Willis. Take a memo billo, this is hateful and despicable:

A Boise State University running back who scored the winning points in the Fiesta Bowl, then proposed to his cheerleader girlfriend on national television, has hired security for his weekend wedding because of racial threats, a newspaper reported Tuesday. Ian Johnson, who is black, and his fiance, Chrissy Popadics, who is white, are due to be married Saturday in Boise.

Anyone who watched maybe the greatest college football game ever and then was charmed by the Boise State star proposing to his girlfriend right after the game must be disgusted by this. And here is the reality, anyone who has seen the reports on the disgusting comments posted at billo's site must know it is much more likely to be fans of billo than daily kossacks who would do such a thing.

always seemed to have a bit of an open door policy in regards to "hate groups" (they make sure they're right then they go ahead). That said, I should add that it's also an incredibly beautiful state populated by a majority of perfectly decent white people.

or other people living in Idaho have little say if "hate groups" decide to buy property and set up their little hate plantations. Saying Idaho has an "open door" policy is quite unfair.

Rural areas which offer seclusion, relatively  cheap land and fewer prying eyes of law enforcement are obviously attractive to these nuts for those reasons. "Idaho" can't say no one may  buy property and live there unless he  meets  "anti-hate" standards.

Rural people have to endure "refugees" from more densely populated and wealthy areas who bring negatives with them whether they move to Sun Valley or Ruby Ridge. Whether the negatives are merely closing off access to good fishing and driving up property values or having your good name associated with hate groups it isn't really within the rural areas ability to prevent.

than it is in say, Wyoming, North Dakota or Alaska, Decon. Maybe it's unfair of me,but I think there's a little more at work here than the rural, inexpensive  property factors you mentioned. I've spent alot of time in Maine which has just as much seclusion and cheap land and I never heard much about the type of groups that seem to gravitate to Idaho.

Karl Popper and I are of the same mind when he said we should intolerant of the intolerant.

And I'd also like to ask who exactly on the mainstream left has been endorsing that jerk, because, to the best of my recollection, the only people giving him any exposure or credibility have been Fox Opinion hosts and right-wing bloggers.  And I can't remember ever seeing anyone on DailyKos taking him seriously, though I've seen Hannity and O'Reilly do so repeatedly.  They, not the left, made him a national figure.

Again, I don't know of anyone on DailyKos, especially anyone entitled to speak for the site, who ever showed any sign of taking that schmuck seriously, though Fox Opinion sure did give him a lot of free exposure.

    1. Not anti-semitism - irony

    2. Not anti-military - it's about right-wing warbloggers and their irrational reaction to a WaPo article because they don't understand we live in a democracy and that the military is under civilian control

    3. Not anti-free speech - it's about how the U.S. media is slanting coverage of Venezuela, U.S. gov't complicity in actions of the Venezuelan opposition, false claims about Venezuela to damage its economy, and how many in the U.S., including Democratic politicians, have fallen for U.S. gov't propaganda

    4. Written not by kos but by a diarist called Heathlander, a relatively new diarist - simply reporting from multiple sources, including the Financial Times, Electronic Intifada, etc. on Hamas and the lack of democratic choices being provided for Palestinians under current U.S. and Israeli policy.

You're either misinformed or a liar. A simple glance at these posts would have told you the truth.

    Maybe I have missed it,

I would point out, for maybe the 100th time that I am an Independent Social Liberal but it really does no good. Anyone who reads this blog regularly knows that your favorite subject is racism and that you play the race card regularly and routinely.

So please stalk off and sulk in the corner because you can show no racist comments by me, even though we all know you drool at the thought of such.

    Now, have a nice day.
