Poll: Hillary's Lead Widens, Dems Believe She Can Win

A new Washington Post-ABC News poll taken July 21 finds Hillary Clinton with a double-digit lead over other contenders. The poll results are here.

I think it's significant that those responding also gave her a double-digit lead when asked which candidate would mostly likely win in the general election:

As for Al Gore, he scored 14 when asked who those polled favored now, but only 9 when asked who was most likely to defeat Republicans.

Hillary is also getting major support on her Iraq stance right now.

She has a 51 percent to 29 percent lead over Obama among those in favor of a complete, immediate withdrawal.

You ain't see nothin' yet. I cringe to imagine what the right to sink to in order to smear and "defeat" Hillary. Defeat is in quotes for the obvious and most disturbing reason -- the joy of electronic election rigging. While I'm not her biggest fan, Hillary will face vitriol none of us could fathom dealing with for a single day, much less an entire campaign season and beyond.

Will only backfire and make the GOP look like the lying nasty players that they are.

There is nothing new that hasn't already been beaten to death with Hilary, the public does not like reruns, especially if the person being smeared has weathered all the storms and come out clean.

Although I think before enterning into the pol biz one has to have skin that is several inches thick from the beginning and a very, er.. healthy to say the least, ego.

Nah. The vitriol and smearing will not be aimed at converting people, it's aimed at rallying an already disgruntled base. I didn't say it would defeat her, I'm only saying it will be sickening in its scope. And, in my inefficient clairvoyance, unprecedented.

from Colorado and she said this morning that everyone there was talking Hillary Hillary Hillary. Of course the Democrats usually sacrifice their first born to the Gods and quickly grope around for a good second.
