Paris Hilton Reports to Jail Early

After one last party, the MTV Movie Awards, Paris Hilton surrendered to Los Angeles authorities last night to begin serving her 45 day prison term. She had until tomorrow to report.

She'll be in solitary 23 hours a day, in an 8×12 foot cell. She'll eat her meals in her cell. She gets an hour a day to shower, exercise or watch tv in the day room. She won't have a roommate, at least initially.

This is the "special needs" section of the jail for cops and celebrities.

At least she won't be forced to do slave labor.

She'll be out in 23 days, not due to overcrowding, but because all inmates get that much time off for good behavior.

Good luck, Paris.

Normal people are afraid of jail time... (5.00 / 1) (#3)

because jail time is torture.  It's hard to describe unless you've had the cage shut on you.

Paris is gonna find out just how normal she is.

you have to have been there.

I can see how it sounds not so bad....a vacation of sorts.  Till they shut the bars on ya...then it hits you. You are not free.  You can't talk a walk, you can't see the sun.  It's a mental torture.

Or maybe it just affected me more than others.

Watching E and they showed her at the awards.

She hoped that this would be a lesson to all young people.

I think it is if the lesson is read your mail, obey the law and don't show up late for court with a chip on your shoulder.

While I do feel sorry for her it has more to do with her growing up so sheltered from reality that she let this happen to herself.   Her parents, her high priced lawyers and a fawning public weren't enough to keep this young women from blowing a chance to stay out of jail.

Let's be honest she blew it all by herself.  Mayber her parents are guilty of rasing a stuck up rich girl but plenty of rich girls have managed to play nice in a courtroom, show up on time and do what their lawyers tell them.

Good luck.  See you on the flip side.

I thought she'd be out in a week.

I've only spent a few hours behind bars. About 15 years ago I'd been picked up for public intoxication in MA, and got tossed into the clink until I sobered up. It sucked. The cell was maybe 4' x 8' and had a thin bunk, concrete floor, an over-flow toilet, green-grey steel bars and nothing else - no TV, nothing to read, no one to talk to, complete isolation.

Anyway, she'll at least have books and mags and a TV blaring away.

It'll still suck, but I imagine she'll probably make the best of it.

Well, there you go, I just googled and found she could have gone to "pay jail" but chose not to:

"I did have a choice to go to a pay jail. But I declined because I feel like the media portrays me in a way that I'm not and that's why I wanted to go to county, to show that I can do it and I'm going to be treated like everyone else. I'm going to do the time, I'm going to do it the right way."
    Good for her.

There are some days when I wish I could get three weeks R&R - no phones, no decisions, no responsibilities, don't have to think - just follow orders.

But then again, I get get antsy after 4 days of vaca, so 23 days in county'd probably be an eternity to me.

Anyway, no cell-phones, laptops, blackberries, etc. Not even her guests (on hour, every Sat and Sun) can bring them inside....wonder if she needs a pen-pal?
