Here's a little song you can all join in on....

Everyone knows that blog traffic goes down substantially for political blogs on weekends. It declines more so on holiday weekends, like the one beginning today with the 4th of July just around the corner.

So, please, give the gift of traffic. It's free. All you have to do is visit your favorite blogs so they register your presence.

Just about every blog has a blogroll. Check out some of the blogs on them. If you're online and blogging, try to link more this weekend.

I'll start, and I'll be updating and occasionally bumping this post over the next few days.

As for something to discuss, here's a question for those more web-savvy than me. Which is a better way for a political blog to raise its profile and awareness of its issues and increase traffic to the site -- FaceBook or My Space? What's the difference between them? Are they worth the effort?

TalkLeft's My Space page is here, TalkLeft's Facebook page is here. I've done very little with either so far. I'd like to put the TalkLeft video that's on My Space and You Tube on Facebook but I don't have a copy of on my hard drive to upload. Any suggestions?

Facebook v. Myspace (none / 0) (#1)

I've been quite active in both sites, though less so to promote my political blog than for other parts of my life.

I tend to lean toward Facebook as having the stronger future. Their new applications section allowing the supporting of causes and political involvement shows long-term promise, and their roots in universities (though now open to everyone), tends toward a more politically aware population.

In either site, it doesn't work just to plop down an identity and hope it will generate interest -- just as politicians learned you can't just add a blog and be a blogger. Neither MySpace or Facebook will do you much good unless you're actively networking (or have others who are doing so on your behalf).

Regarding the video that you want to put on facebook, you can do that through the Posted Items application (that's already built in to your facebook page) without having the video to upload. Simple enter the address of the YouTube video on Post a Link and it'll show up in your feed.

First of all, Jesus' General's post has absolutely nothing to do with Tancredo, other than mindlessly smearing him on unrelated topics. "Liberals" might want to look into whose interests such posts ultimately serve.

As for Facebook, I've already written a few apps for others and one for myself (apps.facebook.com/booklist). One of the apps I wrote for someone else has 100,000 users. It would be tremendously nice if I could come up with a popular idea, but I'm not good with the popular. If anyone has any free ideas, leave them in the latest comments at my site.

Whenever there is a "fake" indictment of some guy from Trinidad about bombing JFK, posts go up quick attacking Bush, timing, etc. Why no post about the British bombings, or are they Gordon Brown fakes too?
