Toothpaste Warning

If you have a 5 ounce tube of Colgate toothpaste, read this.

Five-ounce tubes of toothpaste labeled Colgate and sold in discount stores in four states are being recalled because they may contain a poisonous chemical, according to the importer.

    From the Forbes article:
    A Food and Drug Administration official, Doug Arbesfeld, confirmed that testing had found the chemical in a product with the Colgate label. But he said the agency is unsure if it is really Colgate or a counterfeit. [...]There was no immediate reply to an e-mail message left with a Colgate-Palmolive (nyse: CL - news - people ) spokesman Wednesday evening.

    The fake toothpaste with the Colgate name is labeled "Manufactured in South Africa," but Colgate said it doesn't import toothpaste from South Africa. The counterfeit packages also have several misspellings, and were found in New York, New Jersey, Pennsylvania and Maryland.
