Paris in Jail

This is just too good to be true. Listening to Keith Olbermann, the Paris Hilton in jail story borders on the complete breakdown of legitimate news coverage in America.

A few hours ago, the LA Times posted its article about the jails concerns for protecting her privacy in jail: Rules laid down for Paris' jail time. Since it was posted, it is the "most viewed" story on the Times website.

But even in a department used to housing celebrities, Baca said Hilton was "in a class by herself," and said officials have taken aggressive steps that he hopes will prevent cameras from being smuggled into the jail -- which some photo agencies have said is a possibility because of the price a shot of Hilton in jail would bring.

The paparazzi actually are getting off on this story, comparing her booking in perp walk to the celebrity walk at the Oscars:

"The reality is why don't they just let her walk down the concrete carpet," said Frank Griffin, co-owner of the Bauer-Griffin paparazzi agency. "This is going to be turned into an event like the Oscars."

So, expect Paris to check in dressed to the nines.

The Onion today has a significant story which pretty sums this up: Media Landscape Redefined By 24-Second News Cycle.

Why is it ever news that a person with no discernible skills other than her performance in a leaked video by a creep boyfriend is going to jail for a mere 23 days?

Paris will be treated differently for her own protection. And if its a plexiglass cell - that's  23/7 hours of total isolation.
