The L.A. Times brings back the story of the under-qualified immigration judges appointed during Alberto Gonzales tenure.

I wrote about this in 2005 with respect to John Ashcroft and I'm glad to see it back in the news.

    These are not judges, these are third-rate lawyers, political hacks and Bush administration supplicants who no doubt pray to George W. Bush for guidance every night.

      They probably call the White House to get their OK before every verdict, guilty or not guilty based on the president's expert legal opinion.

    What a great response! I've never seen such a well-considered argument. You clearly know what you're talking about...except, of course, that immigration judges do not issue "guilty" or "not guilty" verdicts. Well done!

    I understand your difficulties with this, english not being your first language, and the many immigration problems you've had, but I was speaking metaphorically using a trope, do you understand the meaning of the words m-e-t-a-p-h-o-r and t-r-o-p-e ?

    Let me help you out.

    Metaphor -- A figure of speech in which an expression is used to refer to something that it does not literally denote in order to suggest similarity.

    Trope -- language used in a figurative or nonliteral sense.

    Maybe I didn't do it very well, but if you keep picking on me I will call immigration on your ass and get you sent back to that communist country you love so much.

    why should immigration be exempt from the ineptitude that characterizes the administration of AG Gonzales?

    and gabriel, a "send him/her back" is pretty much the same as a guilty verdict, in immigration terms.
