Bon Jovi and American Idol

Usually when I write about tv shows, they have something to do with crime, like the Sopranos or 24.

I have no excuse for writing about tonight's American Idol, which will feature Bon Jovi's music and Bon Jovi, except as I've mentioned a few times on TalkLeft, I really love looking at him.

Here's my you tube video of him that has gotten more than 12,000 views -- I grabbed it off of Larry King Live.

Ann Althouse blogged about Bon Jovi and last night's American Idol, so if you watch the show and have some thoughts, you can join in.

Update below:

Update: Since I haven't watched the show much (probably the first time was last week when they did the Africa/AIDS/Children charity show) I can't comment much on who got booted. And I didn't much like the song Bon Jovi sang. But, apparently, the contestant who gets the boot has to sing after being told they are leaving, and Phil tonight did a great rendition of "Blaze of Glory."

The female remaining contestants were crying (not just teary eyed) and I got a catch in my throat -- considering I don't know any of them from Adam and have formed no bond with them, I figure either Phil is a great singer or he must have been really good the rest of the season or else he was Mr. Nice Guy to the rest of the cast.

There are four contestants remaining, three African American women and one white male -- all seemed really good to me, but then again, they were singing rock the past two weeks, which is the only music I appreciate. If you like other kinds of music, you might want to watch the next few episodes.

    Done that way maybe.

But there was an earlier attempt at it by another blogger that was, how do you say it, not good.

    Great performers and real emotions.

I don't know why some people put the show down - if you can appreciate good singing & good music, what's not to like?

Especially now, toward the end of the series, when every kid remaining in the competition has a set of pipes that not only can wring every subtle note out of a song but can also tear your heart out.

    I love the show.
