Thompson's New Spin

Tommy Thompson's rescinded endorsement of an employer's ability to discriminate against gay employees has a new spin:

Tommy Thompson cited a dead hearing aid and an urgent need to use the bathroom in explaining on Saturday why he said at a GOP presidential debate that an employer should be allowed to fire a gay worker.

Memo to political debaters: visit the facilities before the debate starts so that you can give undivided attention to the questions you can't hear.

Don't make excuses that are stupider than the gaffe.

Sailor, if you look at the battery casing on the back of a GAYDARtm (looks after your back so you don't have to (c)) device, it clearly states that in some circumstances a GAYDAR may cause interference with hearing aids and may also cause incontinence.

I hope he doesn't have to use the bathroom when deciding about things like nukes or war.

Gee, he's got a hearing aid. Probably has had one for a while so is used to taking care of it and being aware when it's not working properly. In not making sure his aid was functioning he showed a complete lack of respect for the forum, incompetance and/or a decided  lack of talent for obfuscation and spin.
Sounds like a real winner to me!

Incompetency Defense is really gaining in popularity, and being used for more than just the Iraq Debacle, it seems, or maybe I just don't recall what I was supposed to be listening to?

    Good point Edger.

The Bush administration is so incompetent that they are helping to create a new category for legal incompetence.

Lawyer to Judge: "Your honor my client is incompetent to stand trial due to being a Republican."

It sure seems like that's what they're trying lately, doesn't it John?

Maybe there's hope though, and they'll turn out to be as incompetent at that as they are at everything else. ;-)

I would think his candidacy is down the tubes or will be shortly.  After 8 years of Bush, people might have a preference for someone who is competent, and does not wish to blame others or even circumstances for his mistakes and failings.

If you don't get the cash flowing out of a few dozen zipcodes (it's a big country) you're basically sunk these days.

These people are smart tho, they hedge their bets by giving money to everybody; win place and show.

Unfortunately Tommy and the rest of them are long shots and out of the money.

    What a setup...
