33 Years Ago This Week

33 years ago this week I was sworn into the Colorado Bar. Here's a picture a classmate e-mailed me today of the reception following that event, taken in the law school courtyard, in 1974. How silly we looked, kind of like a cross between the BeeGees and the Mod Squad.

at all.  In fact, I just bought a vintage maxi dress on eBay this week, which I love and (apparently) this kind of thing is in fashion again now.  I don't know, I just wear what I like to wear.  But my mother laughed when she saw it because it was the kind of thing she was wearing 30 years ago.  My embarrassing photos are from the 80s, which were truly hideous.

33 years, eh?  A lot to be proud of.

You look great to me. (none / 0) (#2)

I can't even look at pics of me in the '70s.

happenstance left me with some very old photo i.d.'s.

all i can say is that were they on file now, i would have been peremptorily interviewed by the fbi sometime in the last six years in connection with one or another of their anti-terrorist scams.

I have spent the weekend attending a 50th reunion...

You are rounding the far turn in a race that will be over in a heart beat. Enjoy your friends, because many will be gone sooner than you think. Enjoy your family because since you can't pick them they will teach you tolerance.

And never forget that at the end, all you will have is you, and what people think of you.

That is the most precious thing you will ever have.

i produced a music video for the beegees in the late 90s before maurice died and i have to tell you they were one class act.  can't say that their music really meant anything to me until then - so many years after their heyday. what struck me as we filmed them in the streets of miami was how impressive and solid they were in their talent.  they had few vanities and were just there to sing because it was as natural and powerful to them as breathing.

i wish the same to you, jeralyn.  and honestly, judging from the photos i have seen of you, i didn't think you were a day older than 45 if that.  keep doing what you are doing, it serves you well.

was just last week, wasn't it? It sure feels that way some times.

I imagine some (hopefully not many) of the others who were sworn in to the Colorado Bar with you that day went into law only for their own self interest.

    I'm glad you didn't.
