I see London, I see France...

Sen. Gary Siplin of Orlando, a Florida lawmaker has introduced a bill to suspend students if you can see their underwear.

It's called the "Pull Up Your Britches" bill. Students in violation would face a ten day suspension.

The bill is under debate by the Education Appropriations Committee. As to Sen. Siplin,

The senator was convicted of grand theft for paying his office staff with state money while he worked on his re-election campaign. The senate has suspended action to remove Siplin from office pending his appeal.

I think he's worried about safety. I worry here in B'more when kids run across the street while pulling their pants up. When the fashion was undone belt buckles it was more attitude but this is unsafe.

    for kids who get wedgies?

I mean, everything's a felony in Florida, so why not that, too?

and what they do with their britches? Adults can do anything they want and you always have to say Yes maam, No maam, Yes sir, or No sir.  Adults can lie, cheat, steal, kill, freeze their money in large chunks in the freezer.  Being an adult is heaven down here and until you are an adult we will all focus on and worry about you and your britches.  It's bizarre

    leave those kids alone!

They should be concentrating on more important concerns, especially what is known here in the UK as builders/workman's bum !

Noun. The area of the buttocks (bum) made visible when trousers slip down, usually when bending over or crouching. Often seen on workmen or builders.

((especially offensive on the more hirsuite among us!)though at least you know where to swipe your credit card!)

they have more than enough textbooks and the classes aren't overcrowded down in Fla...it must be nice when the biggest problem in the schools is exposed underpants.

Silly, petty rules with foreseeable consequences (none / 0) (#10)

What a handy way for kids to ditch school.  Show up at school, lose the belt, sag, and get a ten-day leave of absence.

Alternatively, some kids will likely sag while "going commando"-- thus avoiding the underwear penalty altogether.

Kids will see quickly that it's fine to show the world that you're an ass, but not so fine to show your covered ass.
