Immigrant Rights Marches Scheduled Again for May Day

Massive immigrant rights demonstrators will take to the streets of our major cities again on May Day.

Where last year's marches took aim at federal legislation that would have made assisting illegal immigrants a felony, this year's May 1 march will call for a moratorium on workplace immigration raids that have occurred nationwide in recent months, organizers said.

Demonstrators also will demand that U.S. citizenship be opened to the country's estimated 12 million undocumented immigrants, an element in several competing proposals introduced this year in Congress.

Activists say this year could see even bigger turnouts.

"The difference this year is that we now have the infrastructure in place. People are easier to reach and they only have to ask: Where and what time?"

These marches aren't about "immigration". They're about illegal immigration.

And, these marches represent foreign citizens making a show of force in our streets; usually when foreign citizens march in another country's streets it indicates that that country has been invaded.

And, some of the organizers of these marches have extremely questionable links. All three major Mexican PoliticalParties helped organize one of the Chicago marches; three key organizers of various Chicago marches have links to the Mexican government.

The possibility exists that the Mexican government used proxies to agitate their citizens who are here illegally. And, several "liberals" and Democratic leaders (Obama, Gutierrez, Emanuel, etc.) helped them out.

that the demonstrations are not about "immigrant" rights or maybe they are... the right of immigrants to be in this country illegally.  Of course, we'll be browbeaten to death with the mantra "immigrants are doing jobs that Americans don't want."  Ummmmmmmmmmmmmmmm unemployment in my community is a staggering 23%.  Wonder where those jobs are that Americans won't work?

I see no evidence of illegal activity or even advocation of civil disobedience. So far, I see a peaceful demonstration scheduled for May 1. The only agitation I'm sensing is in this thread. I hope to be one of those marching furriners. Except I was born here.

Any time hundreds of thousands of people march through the streets it's a show of force, even if it's completely peaceful.

As for "furriners", why are you stereotyping some Americans? Would you do that with other Americans?

Undocumented immigrants who march are commiting an illegal activity by their presence in this country.  Maybe the Democratic candidate in 2008 can openly place in his or her platform that there will no longer be illegal immigrants because he or she will change the laws.
