Um, Senator Reid, You Need To Talk To Sen. Levin

Via Greg Sargent, Senate Majority Leader Reid says:

Asked by a reporter if Congress would be making some kind of offer to Bush in the quest for a compromise, Reid said: "The offer is that the President sign our bill."

Great! But Senator Levin already is plannning the fifth best plan or something.

    Reid seems ready to confront Bu$h (5.00 / 3) (#1)

Perhaps all of the pontificators & triangulators & appeasers in the Democratic Party are going to be left blathering on Sunday talk shows about how to let Bu$hInc fund the war, while Mr. Reid & Mr. Feingold bring it to a stop.  If Reid backs only the one bill, then no new supplemental budget can get past the in-basket on his desk.

    Give 'em Hell, Harry.

Do Senate Dems Ever Discuss Strategy? (5.00 / 2) (#2)

If not maybe, Reid needs to sit them all down in a room and tell them this is the way it is. "If you can not say, a simple variation of We hope the President does not deny the troops funding by vetoing our bill.", then STFU.

They could also sell what they are doing to more people by saying something like this: " We want the President to accept the generous funding package that Congress has provided for the troops. It provides not only funds for them in Iraq but provides the needed medical care for those injured that has been neglected for too long. We hope that he will not deny the troops those benefits just because he wants prove he is king."
