As TalkLeft reported weeks ago, Bernie Kerik, Giuliani pal and NYC former police commissioner Bernie Kerik, best known for his short-lived nomination by Bush as Homeland Security chief, appears headed for indictment.

Today's update:

Federal prosecutors have told Bernard B. Kerik, whose nomination as homeland security secretary in 2004 ended in scandal, that he is likely to be charged with several felonies, including tax evasion and conspiracy to commit wiretapping.

Kerik's indictment could set the stage for a courtroom battle that would draw attention to Kerik's extensive business and political dealings with former New York mayor Rudolph W. Giuliani, who personally recommended him to President Bush for the Cabinet. Giuliani, the front-runner for the 2008 Republican presidential nomination according to most polls, later called the recommendation a mistake.

At least Kerik should have plenty of money for legal fees.

Records filed with the Securities and Exchange Commission show Kerik had earned more than 6.2 million dollars in pretax profits through stock options he was granted by Taser International, a manufacturer of stun guns.

If the Left's continual attacks on Rudi has brought Thompson in then they have made a tremendous screw up.

isn't alone in attacking Rudy. As an aside the fact Rudy gets it from both sides doesn't necessairly mean he is doing the "right" thing and is courteous, brave and loyal, etc. It could be that both sides recognize Rudy's problems.

I suspect Fred Thompson (as you will come to know) isn't your dream candidate either.

BTW does this make it official, you are a Republican after all...

But to the point. The Left, of which you are a member, has been making the point that the Right won't accept Rudy because of, etc....

Thompson doesn't have those problems.

Thompson isn't good enough for the GOP Mullahs:

Dobson said of Thompson. "[But] I don't think he's a Christian; at least that's my impression," Dobson added, saying that such an impression would make it difficult for Thompson to connect with the Republican Party's conservative Christian base and win the GOP nomination.
Mark Corallo, a spokesman for Thompson, took issue with Dobson's characterization of the former Tennessee senator. "Thompson is indeed a Christian," he said. "He was baptized into the Church of Christ."
In a follow-up phone conversation, Focus on the Family spokesman Gary Schneeberger stood by Dobson's claim. He said that, while Dobson didn't believe Thompson to be a member of a non-Christian faith, Dobson nevertheless "has never known Thompson to be a committed Christian--someone who talks openly about his faith."
"We use that word--Christian--to refer to people who are evangelical Christians," Schneeberger added.

I suspect he prosecuted whoever the police brought to him.
You know. "Law and Order."
Except for Democratic Senators who somehow think they are supposed to do both.
