The Right to Jaywalk

Here's one view of a plan by D.C. Metro police to crack down on jaywalkers.

The right to jaywalk isn’t in the Constitution, but neither is the right to suspend habeas corpus or arbitrarily wiretap citizens, and you don’t see Metro giving the President a $20 ticket. If this ordinance is enforced, the terrorists have already won.

Authoritarians....If jaywalking is strictly enforced, the authoritarians have already won.

Though I guess it's possible terrorists would be glad to know that free Americans are getting their free balls busted now more than ever.

    This must be a parody. (none / 0) (#2)

How can this be anything but a parody?

D.C. residents must unite and fight this injustice, one illegal crossing at a time.

    Oh?

If Metro bus drivers would open their eyes while they drove. Or if car driver's weren't doing 70 and running red lights.

Just 3 weeks ago.  Worse, it was in my own quiet little mountain town on a road devoid of traffic.

But it was also rookie training night, it turned out later.  And I was told, when I got irate over this absurdity, that "Rookies need to get experience interfacing with the public" and "How else are we supposed to find out who the real criminals are?!"

We're all just practice dummies for these predatorial asses.

And I live in California, a supposedly "liberal" state.  Ha.

Ill be asking to "see the body" in court over this one.  Ive asked before.  The judge interrupted and ignored me then.  He'll probably do the same again.

The US Constitution was a nice theory, but now it's "just a damn piece of paper".
