Rudy Files New Presidential Run Papers

Rudy Giuliani has taken the next step towards a presidential run.

In a sign that he's serious about running for the White House, the two-term mayor was filing a so-called "statement of candidacy" with the Federal Election Commission. In the process, he was eliminating the phrase "testing the waters" from earlier paperwork establishing his exploratory committee, said an official close to Giuliani's campaign.

Update: Kevin Drum and Atrios weigh in.

to see the fish fry. He doesn't stand a chance once the public gets a close look at him without the romantic fog of 9/11. Although I doubt he will feel any pain as nothing could dent his supersized ego.

Guiliani is the biggest fraud on the American political scene.

His big chest thumping claim to fame is cleaning up crime in Manhattan. Bull!

He forced the bigger and smarter gangs to adopt new ways to do business. But he also forced many of the small dumb ass gangsters to get on I-78 and I-95 to the Lehigh Valley and the Philadelphia regions. When Guiliani took office Allentown had 2 organized drug gangs. Last year the police admited to seven gangs. The Lehigh Valley is, thanks to Rudy, the only area, that is not a major metropolitan area in the nation, that is designated by the Justice Department as a high priority crime area.

Philadelphia's more than 400 dead to gun violence last year attests to the great crime fighting success of Rudy Guiliani.

Rudy didn't clean up anything. Like all drug warriors he simply chased people around from one community to another.
