Christian Right Searches For a Candidate

For whom would Jesus vote? "Influential Christian conservatives" are having trouble deciding, according to a David Kirkpatrick article in the NY Times.

Many of the conservatives who attended [a meeting of the Council for National Policy, a secretive club whose few hundred members include Dr. James C. Dobson of Focus on the Family, the Rev. Jerry Falwell of Liberty University and Grover Norquist of Americans for Tax Reform], held at the beginning of the month at the Ritz-Carlton on Amelia Island, Fla., said they were dismayed at the absence of a champion to carry their banner in the next election.

We can only hope that religious extremists have cause to "worry that they may find themselves on the sidelines of the presidential race" in 2008.

    For whom would Jesus vote?

Um, I don't think that's the question here.

First, I don't know if Jesus would vote. (Render unto Caesar, etc.)

Second, if he did vote, his interests would certainly have very little in common with the hateful pro-death political views of Dobson, Falwell et al.

Yep, Jesus would spend most of his time trying to make sure the rich get richer. "Value voters"...gotta love 'em.

It is clear that in fact, you like many other people in the world speak about something they no little to nothing about. It's amzing to me how many people have an opinion about something that is as foreign to them as the BIBLE and JESUS seems to be to you. Jesus has the wisdom and love that is truly needed for our society. When Jesus cleared the temple of the moneychangers and animal-sellers, He showed great emotion and anger (Matthew 21:12-13; Mark 11:15-18; John 2:13-22). Jesus' emotion was described as "zeal" for God's house (John 2:17). His anger was pure and completely justified because at its root was concern for God's holiness and worship. This doesn't sound like a person who promotes the "rich get richer" theme. Next time, please investigate and thoroughly study the topic you are speaking about before you decide to make a flip comment and post it. I bet when you do your research you will find an inner peace within you that you didn't quite realize was missing from your life. Our selfish attitudes and the persuits by the devil himself literally blinds us to the truth. Isn't it a dirty shame that there is not one person from the Republican party that 'stands' out from the rest?  I think that really says something about the morals and integrity this country has a severe lacking of; and it keeps just getting worse! ...Mundo, I sincerely hope you find the answers to what I spoke of and I wish you nothing but the best in your future.

armies met on open plains, one might be able to reconcile warfare with protection of "these little ones" that their Savior purportedly said not to harm a hair of, but now the spiritual entrepenuer/warmongers have no excuse. Of course, alot of these folk are the descendants of the ones that not terribly long ago held lynch mob picnics on Saturday and services on Sunday.

the Jesus-patrol gets a candidate to their liking...Rudy the mini-tyrant scares me in a general election...the best hope for the nation is if he gets beat in the primaries, and it might take a holy-roller candidate to do it.
