Enough Hypocrisy to Go Around

Morocco is very upset with the government of Spain because, for the first time since they have been King and Queen, Spanish King Juan Carlos and Queen Sofia are visiting Spain's North African enclaves of Ceuta and Melilla, which lie entirely within Morocco. They have been Spanish territory for about 400 years and remain a source of contention between the two nations.

This falls on the 32nd anniversary of the Green March, in which Morocco attempted to annex the Western Sahara region, a former Spanish colony, notwithstanding the wishes of the indigenous Sahrawi residents to be independent. The dispute continues and the region remains arguably the largest non self-governing territory in the world.

Spain remains upset about the status of Gibraltar, a territory that was seized by England and Holland some three hundred and three years ago and ceded to England nine years later in the Treaty of Utrecht.

Yes, there is enough hypocrisy to go around - except for the Sahrawi people.
