Rudy: Liar, Liar, Pants on Fire

The Giuliani campaign is now backtracking on its claims that prior mayors also used obscure agencies to bill expenses:

Joe Lhota, a deputy mayor in Giuliani's City Hall, told the Daily News Wednesday night that the administration's practice of allocating security expenses to small city offices that had nothing to do with mayoral protection has "gone on for years" and "predates Giuliani."

When told budget officials from the administrations of Ed Koch and David Dinkins said they did no such thing, Lhota caved Thursday, "I'm going to reverse myself on that. I'm just going to talk about the Giuliani era," Lhota said. "I should only talk about what I know about."

The New York Times reports the statistics Rudy Giuliani uses to tout his accomplishments as Mayor of New York don't back him up.

Is he done yet?

    Is he done yet?

it worked pretty damn well for bush in the 2000 & 2004 campaigns.

during the 2000 campaign, bush touted his accomplishments (education, taxes, etc) during his tenure as gov. of texas, claims which had no basis in actual facts. the media chose to ignore those lies, instead claiming gore was the one with an unfamiliarity with the truth.

as well, the media did the same to kerry during the 2004 campaign, facts notwithstanding.

were i giuliani's campaign manager, assuming that the past is prologue to the future, i'd keep pushing those bogus claims as hard as i could, knowing full well the pampered punditocracy will never call me on it.

it's a sure thing for rudy.

Giuliani Trying to Prove Lincoln Wrong (5.00 / 1) (#9)

I hope everyone reads the NYT article on Giuliani's abuse of statistics because it shows how little regard Giuliani has for the truth.

After examining the statistics Giuliani uses to back his claims regarding his crime and spending accomplishments the reporter found that "all of these statements are incomplete, exaggerated or just plain wrong."  Not some of them.  ALL OF THEM.

Lincoln said that you can't fool all of the people all of the time.  Giuliani is trying to prove Lincoln wrong.

after the youtube debate exchange with Romney...right after Romney said (paraphrasing) "What would you have me to do, ask the guy with the accent cutting my lawn for his papers?" Put him on display for the wanna-be tyrant he is...nice one Mitt:)

Now he's really really done...it was hard enough for hard-core conservatives to support him with his extra-marital activities, when taxpayers are paying to enable said activities, that's a double whammy.

Let the joyous news be spread, the wicked old tyrant at last is dead!

How are they "funny"?  Ha ha?

    or

"differing from the ordinary in a suspicious, perplexing, quaint, or eccentric way"

So each time i hear an accent I should either call the police, become confused, admire it, or pardon their eccentricity.....

I would imagine plenty of northerners and southerners find each others drawls, funny.

Funny choice of a word if you ask me.

It was kinda funny watching them twist and turn trying to out "anti-immigrant" the other...at least Mitt draws the line at expecting homeowners to do background checks on any and all sub-contractors doing work on the home.

Out of the two, Mitt is a little less dangerous, imo.  Then again I've lived under Rudy, never under Mitt.  Maybe I underestimate Mitt's tyrannical capabilities.

    He's Rudy of 9/11!

We need him to waterboard people and bomb the hell out of Iran to make sure that 9/11 will never happen again.

Doesn't the liberal media see this?

    Haters.
