Yesterday, Rudy Giuliani "offered his strongest defense yet" of Bernie Kerik.

"I mean the reality is, if we just look at Bernard Kerik's service as police commissioner, he was an excellent police commissioner," Giuliani said at a campaign stop in this key early primary state.

...."He was there on Sept. 11," Giuliani said. "He was heroic on Sept. 11."

He continues to admit his recommendation of Kerik for Homeland Security Secretary was his fault and a mistake.

Can Rudy overcome the problems with his personal life, his past positions on social issues conservatives find troubling and his lack of judgment in personnel decisions? Digby says Kerik is a disqualifying mistake for Rudy.

    plans to vote in the republican primaries, what she has to say is completely irrelevant.

    in fact, i hope mr. guliani wins the republican nomination (though i doubt he will), it would be a great boon for the democratic nominee, especially if it's sen. clinton.

    personally, i can't think of any higher form of entertainment, then watching sen. clinton shred mr. guliani, in a face-to-face debate. break out the popcorn and sodas!

    as it is, watching him dig a hole, deeper than that at ground zero, for himself, is great fun.

    If you've been paying attention, this is also Rudy's defense of his views on gun control, his wife, global warming, domestic spying, the Pope, designated hitting, Splenda, the ending of the Sopranos...

    Is active collusion in making a twenty year old intern employed by her husband's administration twist in the wind for months (as the country alleged that she was mentally troubled, etc) until the blue dress with the stain was introduced also a disqualifying mistake?
    Be careful about saying that any flaw of character is a disqualifying mistake.  It may bite back.

    Of course he didn't say that, but a person's life has many parts. He may have done good in one, wrong in another. A person who believes in fairness can applaud one and condemn the other.
