The Case Against Coulter

For your Friday entertainment, you may want to read the police reports and documents (linked at Brad Blog) outlining the three crimes (two of them felonies) that might be charged against Ann Coulter, who misrepresented her address when she applied for a driver's license, when she registered to vote, and again when she voted.

If you desire rational discussion at this site, then leave her out. She's a joke magnet. Even her crimes are laughable.

But seriously, I thought the most striking point in the BradBlog story was that there don't seem to be any cops in Florida who are willing to fill out a charge against that harridan.  That's interesting....

This is a fairly serious blog.  Whatever Coulter's faults, they won't be corrected or exposed by making misogynistic comments about her genitalia, Adam's apple, or by calling her "Stan."

There are lots of blogs where those kinds of comments are the norm.  I even read some of them, but it's a long way from why I come to TalkLeft.

Better to laugh at her than to take her seriously...cuz then the joke would be on us.

So let me get this straight: We have a clear example of how a fraudulently acquired drivers license can be used to vote illegally.

Explain to me again why illegal aliens should be allowed to get drivers licenses then?

This right-winger has no use whatsoever for the woman, but let me suggest the possibility that the cops have investigated and determined that there is a sound explanation for what she did, i.e. a defense to the charge.  In any event, wake me when she gets charged.

    What is a cop's job? (none / 0) (#11)
by scribe on Fri Jan 12, 2007 at 01:23:14 PM EST
    To catch criminals.

If a cop spends his time looking for ways that potential criminals can avoid the charges, is the cop doing his job?

No.  Cop would be doing the job of his mortal enemy - the defense lawyer.

What happens to cops who don't do their jobs, i.e., don't catch criminals or, worse, look for ways criminals can get out from under charges?

    They wind up as ex-cops.

You call yourself Fredo for a reason, right?  And it's not that Fredo's messing up Moe Green's operation by hitting on the cocktail waitresses, right?

however, if that were the case, we'd already have heard about it, ie:

police dept. spokesperson: we have investigated the allegations regarding ms. coulter, and have found them to be groundless. in the absence of any additional evidence, to support expending further scarce, allocable resources, we consider the matter closed.

and yet....................nothing. kinda makes ya wonder fredo, doesn't it?

    Lucy's 5-cent take on Ann Coulter (none / 0) (#19)
by Dadler on Fri Jan 12, 2007 at 04:20:42 PM EST
She is obviously a dysfunctional, repressed and conflicted person, and she is full of misplaced rage.  Something happened to this woman, a long time ago, and she has never been the same.  She's like Arianna when she was a righty, but without (so far) the personal qualities necessary to effect a personal change like Arianna did.  Ultimately, Annie can't even ponder, for a second, disappointing all those who have come to count on her, rely on her, who would be shocked and outraged by her "conversion".  Even if that means continuing her damaging, inane and increasingly unhinged act.

She attempts to come across as being tough on the liberals, and everything else, but in practice it doesn't seem to be the case. Remember the story not all that long ago when she got pied. Rather than use it to her advantage she had the person who pied her charged with assault.
