Evan Bayh Announces He's Out for 2008

Indiana Senator Evan Bayh today announced he will not run for President in 2008 because he can't win.

"At the end of the day, I concluded that due to circumstances beyond our control the odds were longer than I felt I could responsibly pursue," Bayh said in a statement. "This path - and these long odds - would have required me to be essentially absent from the Senate for the next year instead of working to help the people of my state and the nation."

Translation: Between Hillary and Obama, there's no room for me.

... I hope you're wrong. I think/hope that Bayh has realized that his centrism, his constant seeking of 'doing nothing wrong' instead of doing the right thing have led him to the conclusion that he isn't viable.

Hillary and Obama are great distractions for the RNC, they aren't viable either.

My hope is that the rethugs will have spent all their money and resources chasing shadows while a real leader emerges.

...at the mouth for a Hillary/Obama ticket in '08: the only politician more divisive than gwb and a newbie Senator, dazzled by the bright lights and growing more over-confident by the minute, whom they can use the religious right to corrupt beyond redemption while pretending to make nice until they have Obama right where they want him, endorsing the religious right and shattering his image as a moderate.

I didn't realize I had hit "post", so this is the text that should have accompanied the headline. Gosh, that's my second mistake this year.

But, the man is like lukewarm milk.  That was his downfall.
He seems to be a good senator so maybe that is the right place for him.
For something like president, it has to be right place and time and for you to speak to the people as a whole.  Excite them and to be passionate about you.  This was not what was a strength of Bayh's.  I don't see people being passionate about him.
I heard that Warner dropped out for the same reasons as Bayh.
