Sad and Correct

Richard Cohen on Iraq:

[T]he ending is inevitable. We will get out, and the only question that remains is whether we get out with 3,000 dead or 4,000 or 5,000. At some point the American people will not countenance, and Congress will not support, a war that cannot be won. Just how many lives will be wasted in what we all know is a wasted effort is about the only question still left on the table.

Only this time it's on steroids. I don't think anyone realizes the horror and long term effect of the maiming and Post traumatic stress syndromes we will have to deal with for may mny decades to come. As a Veitnam Combat Vet I once again wake up in a sweat because of the debacle. History will curse Bush and his sycophant lackies!

...beyond the point rather, where there is very little else that makes any sense that can be said except what Cohen says and what you say, Mreddieb.

Except perhaps one last quote from Cohen's article:

Maybes are not sufficient reason for Americans to continue to die.

    Oh, and arrest this man.

Richard Cohen for finally, finally getting to this point.  No thanks for all the other crap you wrote.

    Not leaving. Period. Wont't happen.

From their point of view too much at stake and they dont care about the Iraqis.

Troop levels will be increased and the Dem leadership will approve.

Bush has Gawd in his corner. Besides, a conversation between a Liberal and a Frenchman about geopolitics and human nature would be so far over his head he wouldn't even know it went over his head. ;-)

in spite of the cherished myth to the contrary. richard cohen is an idiot, and has been for a long time. i take anything he spouts with a sack full o' salt.

this would be the same richard cohen who originally supported the pre-emptive invasion of iraq, in spite of the minimal evidence of nuclear capability, the "wmd's" that put us there to begin with. that it's taken him this long to finally figure out that the war was bogus to begin with is illustrative of his total lack of common sense.

...of what the casualty level will be when bush finally gets off his @$$ and tells us what his "new, super-secret, sure-fire, guaranteed-to-entertain-at-parties-and-win-the-hearts-and-minds-of-the-Iraqis" plan which will no doubt be SO well researched, collaborated upon, and decided by the Decider that all the world's leaders will bow their heads in shame, immediately open their treasuries to help pay for the war, and all of whom will volunteer to send any number of troops America needs in the eternal, generational warfare of the WOT. For forever, if need be.

    Or not.
