Tom "The Hammer" DeLay starts blog, (poll here!)

locks out comments about 75 minutes later.

As reported on RawStory here and elsewhere, Former House Majority Leader Tom "The Hammer" DeLay started his own blog, here.

He says he got the idea from a short guest-blogging stint on RedState and all the positive feedback there.  In plain black and white, his purpose:

I have created this blog in order to provide Americans with a new meeting place where such opinions and viewpoints might be better shared, discussed, and debated; a place where conservative Americans might really speak truth to power and to one another.

About an hour and a quarter and 110 comments later, he disabled comments and withdrew a couple posts, too.  Too bad, though.  Some of the comments were among the most direct speak-truth-to-power bons mots I've read.  In the main, they were most definitely NSFW (and would set off the whooping sireens and red bubble lights on TL's profanity filters).  I reproduce a couple of the best, cleaned up in one instance, below:

Aesthetically speaking, this is the most visually bland yet offensive piece of crap to ever find it's way onto a server.

I can't help but think of DeLay standing over this web server screaming, "How do you turn this f***ing thing off!"

Let's hear it for the First Amendment, eh Tommy-boy?

The latter, of course, foreshadowed Tommy's actions later.

For those interested, someone caught a screen-grab of the posts and 110 comments and has posted them on a new blog, here.  The subtitle to "TomDelayDotCom" is:

A tribute to the 75-minute period where Tom DeLay actually received feedback from America. The experiment has now ended, but, this blog has taken a snap-shot, just for you...

Thank you, whomever you are....

His site is back up too. I was looking at it awhile ago. They seem to have cleaned out all the comments with profanity in them, but they missed a few that are subtle enough sharp insults to have "whizzed" right past their heads.

    Hilarious :-)

Olbermann takes The Squirt to task, for ghost-blogging, here.

Apparently, Tommie doesn't actually do writing.  He just has the ideas and has people who actually put them into words.  As KO puts it, DeLay doesn't get it that one of the purposes of having a blog is actually "to blog".

And, we have a YouTube of KO scorching The Hammer, here.

someone figured out a way to get through.  Huff's Blog, posts it, here.

    Huff says:

If you check out Delay's introductory entry now, most of the comments appear to be... acceptable.

The person now bird-dogging the former leading light of the Republican party's comments seems blind to that clever and ancient form of secret message-making known as the acrostic.

Huff then posts a number of (hilariously profane) acrostic comments, with thumbnailed screen-caps for those who like to look.  As Huff says:  "Go ahead.  You know you want to."

Huff then admires the sheer devilishness of the(se) commenter(s):

Note how fawning the texts containing some of the nastiest acrostics are.

I think I'm going to eventually cruise some other far-right blogs and see who else is doing this very funny stealth bombing in the comments. I'd shake the acrostic writers' hands just for the stunning level of snarkiness required to do such a thing.

    Mwahhhaaaahaaa!

That was too funny!  I am wiping the tears away as I type this.

I still love the image of Tom DeLay standing over the server the best.
