George Allen Concedes

Update: George Allen, as expected, conceded the Virginia Senate race today.
With the vote tally so close, Allen noted that he had the legal right to ask for a recount, a procedure he said could drag on until Christmas. "With deep respect for the people of Virginia and to bind factions together for a positive purpose, I do not wish to cause more rancor by protracted litigation which would in my judgment not alter the results," Allen said, flanked by his wife Susan and long-time Virginia Senator John W. Warner ®.

Viriginia Republican George Allen will concede the Senate race to Jim Webb at 3pm ET.

Lindsay at Majikthise took some great photos of those at the Allen headquarters on election night -- and of the Webb headquarters the day before. She has them up on Flickr, but you can also just scroll down her home page.

does it matter? Burns conceded too BTW.

But if they didn't, what would change? Allen should have his recount if he wants it.

the single classiest act of sen. allen's public life. the man is and has been a fraud. you'll recall, this was the guy who suggested that the right-wing repubs "mash their soft teeth down their throats", when asked about about working together with the democrats.

from a guy who studiously avoided military service, no less.

well bro, how do those soft teeth taste right about now?

he was useless as gov. of va, and, tho i thought it not possible, even more useless as a senator from va. he will most decidedly NOT be missed.
