The War on Christmas Wreaths

The war on Christmas wreaths (or maybe it was a war on peace) has ended. TalkLeft recently featured a story about a Colorado woman who was threatened with a fine for placing a "divisive" wreath, shaped like a peace symbol, on her door. In a show of solidarity, other residents of Pagosa Springs expressed their support for peace:

Tuesday morning, 20 people marched through the center carrying peace signs and then stomped a giant peace sign in the snow perhaps 300 feet across on a soccer field, where it could be seen from about just everywhere by just about everyone.

The daffy members of the Loma Linda homeowners assocation board who thought the peace symbol might be a sign of the devil have resigned, and the threat to fine the homeowner has been rescinded.

at how some people are capable of rising to the challenge, and showing the ability to go above and beyond the call of stupid.

that a peace symbol, displayed during the season of the "prince of peace", should cause such consternation, is a dramatic illustration of just how whacked out we have become as a society.

That the 'birth of Christ' day (Christmas, if you will) is an arbitrary date chosen, after Christianity became the "state" religion (think Constantine), to coincide with that of pagan celebrations so as to 'convince' the masses.

In other words, yeah - I know it's really the winter solstice but just celebrate JC's birthday as well, would ya. (And actually, Emperor Aurelian issued a decree in 274 CE, which just goes to show ya what how ethically challenged Constantine was as well.)

So we have at least one fool fighting over a "christian" holiday whose roots and origins are decidedly NOT christian, and some sign he feels is satanic.

But not in the way you might have thought:

Town Manager Mark Garcia said Pagosa Springs was building its own peace wreath, too. Mr. Garcia said it would be finished by late Tuesday and installed on a bell tower in the center of town.

One wonders whether the anti-peace-symbol forces will sue over their civil rights being violated by gov't advocating (shudder) peace....

...it when pointing out that Kearns had suddenly become a legal liability to the homeowner's association and would likely be fired?

Which ever, my hat (if I wore one) is tipped in recognition of your prescience, Kearns was indeed fired.

I'm sure there is a place for him in the Christian Coalition...their new head was forced to resign because he wanted to focus on poverty and the enviroment instead of abortion and gay marriage.

Kearns' anti-satanic symbol crusade would go over big with that crew.  No peace, no choice, no freedom.
