Moments in Political Kneecapping

Michael Crowley and TNR continue to embarrass themselves:

Update: Reader AM asks a compelling question: "Would the Hammer ever have allowed himself to be humiliated this way?"

DeLay was never Speaker, but it so happens:

Regarding Hoyer's win, it's worth noting that Tom DeLay beat Newt Gingrich's preferred candidate for Majority Whip in 1994. So this isn't the first time a Minority Leader has presided over a historic victory but failed to totally consolidate power.

Apparently TNR allows itself to be embarrassed in this way EVERY DAY.

My new comment policy (none / 0) (#1)
by Big Tent Democrat on Fri Nov 17, 2006 at 12:58:22 AM EST
None. I will ask Jeralyn to delete all comments that are rude or denigrating towards me. She'll probably refuse but I will ask.

My request seems fair. I can't shoot back thus you should not be able to shoot at me.

From today on, I will delete all comments that violate the comment policy of this site. That includes personal attacks, insults, name-calling, profanity and crudeness.

We are now using Scoop, which does not allow for editing of comments.  So I can no longer just delete the insult. It's either let the comment pass or delete the whole thing.

All someone has to do is call it to my attention by sending me an email.

Disagreement is fine, attacks are not.  I consider this site like my living room. If you wouldn't say it there, don't say it here.

But I wll ask for deletions.

If we were to have this policy yesterday, i would ask for deletions of many of my own comments and those from soccerdad, Deconstructionist, peaches, jimppkj, jlvgston and others.
I personally disagree with tis strict policy as I have told you privately.

My feelings has been and remains if you don't want to mix it up then do not throw punches.

I like to mix it up and throw and catch punches. What I have never done, until now, is whine about it when I catch what I deliver.

As you know, the whining screech of sanctimony and hypocrisy has reached unbearable levels. I will not comment but I will complain quickly and consistently and rudeness and denigration from others from now on.

    "Dumb and Dumber." (none / 0) (#4)

Big Tent - The question of course is the reason for the defeat. Murtha was defeated for two reasons. First, the new members, and some old, were concerned over his war position. Secondly, ABSCAM was, and is, hovering over him.

These were two key issues that the Demos ran on. To elect him to a leadership position would have a huge political blunder. That Pelosi did not understand that speaks ill of the future of the House under her leadership.

I would give you that the Repubs, by electing Trent L, have demonstrated their ability to have major screw ups. I think we may have to name this Congress, "Dumb and Dumber."
