First Comment Claim Report

Ladies and Gentlemen,

   This morning I ran the first comment claim operation for the 185 registered users currently on the site. We were able to confirm authorship of 11330 comments of the 130,930 total imported comments. That leaves obly 119600 to go. As more MT-site visitors register their Scoop accounts we'll be able to confirm authorship for more comments.

I expect we'll be running comment claim cycles every few weeks while MT-site visitors visit the Scoop site for the first time and create their account and monthly thereafter.

For anyone interested, here's the list of users who have has comments imported this far:

    Thanks for implementing this, but is it expected that not all comments under a name will be claimed?

    For instance, only 8 comments were claimed for jimakaPPJ, but Google's cache has over 700.  Similiarly, Sailor got 570 claimed, but Google says he's posted over 1,000.

    Roy,
       Yes, in this round of imports we only processed clains based on validated email address. Any comments you posted using your name and not email address would not be included in this round. I ran another round this morning which includes many more of your comments. The same applies for other frequent commenters.

    I don't get this. The claim report says 3036 for me, but google says 698.

    Edgar,
       Google would nesecerrily be somewhat behind on the indexing vs actual comment claim process. You've got another several hundres in the second round of the claim process. Google will catch up as the new site structure is spidered more deeply.

    I've only been commenting here for about 1 year - since a bit befor Katrina, I think.

    3036 / 365 = 8.3 comments every day for a year. Unless I'm doing it in my sleep I don't think that can be right.

    Are you sure that 3036 doen't include comments by others referring to me?

    I can say with certainty that the email address with which you registered your Scoop account was the one entered in the email address field for those 3036 comments. That doesn't preclude the possibility that others might enter your email address when commenting in MT, but that's relatively unlikely.
