Lieberman: Not A Democrat

(From Big Tent Democrat)

This is hardly surprising:

Sen. Joseph I. Lieberman, a lifelong Democrat and student of politics, blanked when asked if America would be better off with his party regaining control of the U.S. House of Representatives. . . . "Uh, I haven't thought about that enough to give an answer," Lieberman said, as though Democrats' strong prospects for recapturing the House hadn't been the fall's top political story.

. . . On the campaign trail, Lieberman's message has changed since the primary, when he stressed his party credentials as a vice presidential nominee and presidential candidate who opposed Bush. His target then was Democratic voters antagonistic to the war and disdainful of Bush. . . . Lieberman relies on talking points more often sounded by the Bush White House than Democratic congressional candidates, invoking patriotism and America's need to be vigilant in a dangerous world.

The question is why in the world any Democrat would support this Bush enabling de facto Republican?

Because they, too, are Bush enabling de facto Republicans. (Here's lookin' at you, Landrieu.)

Only the credulous will; Here's a link to a link to Lamont's new commercial, highlighting Rape Gurney Joe's promise, in 1988, to serve no more than three six-year terms. Time's up. Go home, Joe.

After election day Sen Lieberman will still be a senator and Bertie Wooster/Ned Lamont will be re-signing up for his exclusive country club membership and sipping gin and tonics served on the veranda of his Greenwich estate by a man-servent who possibly goes by the name of Jeeves.

Well, why would anyone support a candidate?

Big Tent you really need to get a grip on reality. Lieberman is exactly what the Democratic leadership considers a Dem to be.

With respect to policy issues this is very little difference. Both party leaderships are prowar, procorporations, and antiworker.

64% of the Democratic candidates in the 45 closely contested House Congressional races oppose a timetable for withdrawal from Iraq.

The Democratic party that existed in the 60's and 70's is dead, killed by corporate sponsorship and frauds like the Clinton's. The only question is do you want christian fundamentalist with your prowar party.
