Reviewing the Bush Bench

A recent report by People For the American Way analyzes decisions written by Bush-appointed judges and concludes that "more and more opinions seek, sometimes successfully, to cut back broadly on Americans' rights under our Constitution and laws." According to PFAW Legal Director Elliot Mincberg:

"What we're seeing is unfortunately exactly what the Federalist Society and White House hoped for when they promoted one ultraconservative ideologue after another to the appeals courts."

That news provides another reason to rescue the Senate from Republican rule. After all, we have two more years of President Bush, no matter what happens in November.

    I'm curious. Short of impeachment... which was attempted in 1804 by the house of Samuel Chase for discrimination on the bench against Jeffersonians, though the senate later found hum not guilty... is there any other way to remove judges like Alito and other bush appointees from the SC? It may be something that will be needed to enable the process of rebuilding the country constitutionally in the years following the bush administration.

    if we have even a few more months with bush (cheney) in charge, the people of this country are not likely to sit on their asses any longer. 2 years, don't be absurd. senators are not stupid enough to support him when the public sees what they have known all along, the facts, the truth, the written orders for things illegal. please, this scandal is about to explode and our government with it. think about the blood engorged ticks that are going down in 06, in 08, in 10, it will be a, well, "drained swamp" would be the only thing the people will tolerate

    Oh, yeah, two more years of the dimwit...sigh. How depressing.

    Let's just hope that our Republic survives the next two years of this administration, but the Vegas odds are getting shorter, currently it's 450 to 1 that our constitutional republic will survive George W. Bush's administration. So if you lay $10,000 out on the long odds, and the Republic is effectively abolished by 2009, that's an easy $4.5 million. Of course as things deteriorate the odds will continue to shrink. I had my money down when it was 1250 to 1, call me a sucker, call me an opportunist, I'll be the one laughing all the way to the bank when America goes under. And should we by some miracle survive, I'll just write off that $10,000 using one of those convenient tax loopholes provided by the Congress and Bush's revamping of the tax codes. So I don't lose no matter what happens. I imagine many other smart investors are betting against America as well. It's called free market capitalism baby, gotta love it. Take note Socialists, Communists, leftists etc. the odds against a popular revolt, a People's Revolution, are hovering somewhere around 5200 to 1. So a $10,000 bet would win you a cool 52 million to set yourself up with in the New American Empire, after Dubya crushes said revolt with the full force of the US military. No doubt King George won't hesitate to use nuclear weapons on us. At that point most Americans will be classified as terrorist insurgents anyway, subject to all manner of devious medieval torture to be carried out publicly on the Capitol Mall, as a lesson to others who would dare question the benevolence of our imperious leader. We'll all be subject to summary execution just for looking at a Republican the wrong way. All hail The New American Empire... suckers!
