Tony Snow: "Simply Naughty E-Mails"

Think Progess has the video of White House Press Secretary Tony Snow on CNN this morning:
This morning on CNN, Soledad O'Brien asked Tony Snow why "any communication between a 16-year-old and a congressman" didn't "raise red flags -- major, massive red flags" with Speaker Dennis Hastert and others who have known about the communications for months.
Snow responded, "I hate to tell you, but it's not always pretty up there on Capitol Hill. And there have been other scandals, as you know, that have been more than simply naughty e-mails."
Over at GMA, according to the Note, here's what George Stephanopolous had to say: If Republicans knew about the x-rated e-mails, Game Over.
Pulled from The Note, his quote on GMA this morning was: "Right now it's a category 3 hurricane and it's picking up steam. Republicans all across the country are getting questions about it. But here's the key question: Did any Republican leaders know about those x-rated emails? If they did, it's game over. The leadership will have to resign. It will cost Republicans control of Congress. As one top GOP aide told me this morning, 'the place will burn down'."
A reader at TalkingPointsMemo makes a great observation about Hastert's letter to DOJ seeking an investigation.
But his request for an investigation is directed SOLELY at those "sexually explicit communications," and who knew of them, when, and what they did.
....That has NOTHING TO DO with how the Leadership dealt with the emails from Foley to the Page from Louisiana.
