Tony Snow's attempt to spin Mark Foley's conduct as involving "simply naughty e-mails" (reported by TalkLeft here) is silly on its face, but will be even harder to sell if, as ABC reports today, "Mark Foley's Internet messages also include repeated efforts to get the underage recipient to rendezvous with him at night." Snow's remarks reflect, as John Nichols reports, the GOP's state of denial concerning the Republican cover-up of Foley's transgressions.

    I bet Snow wishes he was back at Fox right about now. He's obviously grasping at straws. If these are "simply naughty emails" by congressional standards, we've got one perverted congress. I'm talking "german porn" level perversion here. I wouldn't be a spokesperson for the GOP crime family for all the diamonds in Africa. But then again I have standards...it's clear Snow does not.

    wait a second now-didn't the average poster here, and certainly the author of this thread, recently find a 60 day sentence for someone who actually sodomized a minor appropriate. given that, it is hard to find the perch you choose to survey this matter from very credible.

    Snow's pathetic dissembling is the tired old "we are bad, but others are worse" fallacy that the regime and its followers trot out when they have nothing else to say. Pedophilia? Torture? War crimes? Yes, we're bad, but others are worse.
    I hate to tell you, but it's not always pretty up there on Capitol Hill. And there have been other scandals, as you know, that have been more than simply naughty e-mails. (Snow)
    What "other scandals"? What is he talking about?
