Primary Day Open Thread

by TChris

This is primary day in many states, including Rhode Island, where Lincoln Chafee, one of the country's few Republican moderates holding elected office, may be voted out by right wing voters. Meanwhile, battles are underway in several states regarding conservative legislative efforts to make voting more difficult.

Here's a place to talk election politics.

Is Chafee considered a "moderate" because he is a "Republican" but tends to agree with with liberals more often than not? If so, wouldn't that make Liebermann a "moderate" as well (albeit in reverse order)? And if "moderation" is good, why are so many liberals opposed to Liebermann? On the other hand, it's good to see that Mfume lost, even if he hasn't had the good grace to admit it yet.

    Chafee kept his seat.
