New York Times Retracts Hillary Clinton Story

Think Progress reports the New York Times has retracted its news article that misrepresented comments by Hillary Clinton. Good work by the liberal blogosphere that reported the falsehoods.

This is a victory for the progressive blogosphere, particularly Atrios, who first discovered the error, and Media Matters, which kept the story going. Some questions to consider:

Why did it take the New York Times more than 48 hours to correct the record? Will right-wing news sites that picked up the story like Drudge Report and Newsmax correct the record for their readers?

Here is the retraction, here's the original article.

Actually, I first learned of this story from conservative sites correcting the error in their first reporting of it. It was the Leftie sites - e.g. Kos - where they dumped all over Hillary w/out checking the facts, first. And all of it over a mildly ambiguous bit of spoken syntax.

Isn't the New York Times part of the liberal blogosphere? (just curious)

Muddy, You've just discovered that one of the right's deeply held beliefs ( the NYT is liberal) is as fake as a three-dollar bill. Interesting, isn't it?

yes, after the leftie sites called them on it.
And all of it over a mildly ambiguous bit of spoken syntax.
no, the quote was taken completely out of context and it gave it the opposite meaning. Nice try tho. and no, the NYT is a newspaper, MSM or MMM if you prefer and was one of the biggest supporters of the dishonest and headlong rush to war with a country that nothing to do with 9/11.

Sailor, And let's not forget the NYT broke that most libelous and nationally distracting bit of nonsense known as Whitewater. I'm always amazed that the right chooses to forget this. Why not embrace your friends?
